“Nah, I better get going.I need to intercept Mom from driving my woman away from me, and, you know, choosing not to marry me.”
“Larissa would never do that. She still loves you, you know.”
She hadn’t said it.But then, he also hadn’t told her he loved her either.
“What’s that?”Harlow asked.
He looked toward his sister, and she folded her arms as she came closer to him.
“What?”
“There’s something on your face, a look, what is it all about?”she asked.
“It’s nothing.”
She shook her head.“No, that is not nothing. That is very much something.”
“I’m going now.”
“You know, Larissa doesn’t hold a grudge, and she is known for being nice and forgiving.”
“Yeah, that’s true, but I broke her heart.”
“Is that why you proposed to her, to help fix how she wanted to have kids?”Harlow asked.
“No, I asked her to marry me because I don’t want to live without her.I love her.I want to keep her as mine.”
“That is all you need,” Harlow said.
Big Dick let himself out and made his way toward his bike.He rode back home.
It was already the New Year, Christmas leading up to the end of the year had been a bit of a whirlwind.
Christmas had not been bad with his parents and Jonah.Larissa and his mother had cooked dinner. He did try to help, but they herded him right out of the kitchen, which meant he was left with his father and father-in-law, which hadn’t been as awkward as he thought it was going to be.His parents, as well as Jonah, stayed for three days before going back home.
Once they were alone, he and Larissa made love in every room of the house. Now, it was officially their home, and it was the best freaking feeling in the world.
Larissa didn’t have to work, as Ava had decided to close the bakery for the final two weeks of the year.
New Year’s Eve, he and Larissa went to the clubhouse to celebrate, and he made love to her in his old room, as music along with fireworks seemed to fill every noise decibel. It didn’t matter because it was just him and Larissa.Their own little comfortable cloud.
Of course, as he arrived home, he saw that his mother’s car was already parked in his driveway, and that meant she was inside. He ran a hand down his face and sighed.
Entering their home, he heard his mother laughing, but what surprised him and made him hesitate was the sound of Larissa’s laughter.
He found them in the sitting room. His mother’s wedding binder was open, as well as a couple of family albums.
“Ah, I should have known,” he said.
“What?I thought Larissa would like to see her future husband in all his glory, from baby through to the grown man.”
“You wanted to be a fireman,” Larissa said, holding up a little picture.“This is so cute.”
He looked at her.“What do you want for dinner?”he asked.
Larissa laughed.“You don’t need to worry about it.Your mom and I made beef stew, and it’s in the slow cooker.”
“What’s Dad up to?”Big Dick asked.
