A Society of Traitors

I was in Blairville, after all. The wildest shit was possible here.

“Olivia McConnell,” I muttered in frustration, cursing my life.

Why did this have to happen now? Why me? Did she have to be everywhere I was? Did she have to be a Transformed?

I didn't want to believe it.

David gave me a questioning look. “You know her?”

You bet I did.

Unfortunately, David confirming her presence didn't calm me down one bit.

How the hell was that possible?

“She's the spawn of hell.”

I watched her hug Miles as if he were her teddy bear, and he didn't do anything about it. He even hugged her tighter, spun her around, and she laughed loudly as if they were a goddamn couple.

“You haven't seen hell yet,” I heard Adrian mutter behind me.

Part of me desperately tried not to let Adrian's words get to me, because if he knew what hell I had already been through – a hell I had buried in Sacramento – he would treat me differently.

“She is hell,” I clarified, feeling disgust rising inside me as her laughter echoed deep in my ears.

Miles let go of Olivia and she gave him her sweetest smile before they started talking.

“She may look harmless, but that's just a façade.”

As if she had heard me, she looked at me and her expression darkened.

Bastien waved Miles over and he smiled briefly at her again, said something I couldn't hear with all the talking going on down there, and then followed Bastien to the trunks of the cars.

“We know Olivia,” David began. “She's all right.”

I stared at him dumbfounded.

What had he just said? All right? Miles' shirt was all right for once today. But this girl? No. She was anything but all right.

And now she was approaching the stairs...

Everything inside me tensed until my hands clenched into fists.

She looked me straight in the eye. It was a look I knew all too well. The one she gave you before she made your life a living hell. A destructive smile. As fake as her entire personality.

The closer she came, the more I was forced to realize how pretty she actually was. I had repressed that part because the haunting memory of her personality overshadowed everything else.

Every time I received compliments, I had to think of this girl. About how she was worlds more beautiful than I would ever be.

She reminded me of Vivienna, even though they looked very different.

Her ice-blue eyes glinted at me as if I were her prey. Then they turned reddish. Dark red.

She had already been drinking.

God, she was a Ruisangor.

With every step she came closer, I felt that unpleasant feeling from old times.
