IDK it hasn’t started yet and are we
really going to do this?
He’s acting like absolutely nothing happened between us, and I wonder if I’m making more out of it than it was. I expected there to be some awkwardness between us but there hasn’t been. Did I misjudge him so much? Was he just looking for a night of sex and nothing more? That thought should make me feel better but it doesn’t. Our night meant something to me, and even though we can’t be more, I’ll always treasure it. My phone chimes again, and I grab it, feeling angry.
Trey:
Doing what?
Me:
Talking about my date after what
happened between us
I glance up at the clock and realize that my date is probably waiting for me. Looking down at my phone, I log into the dating website and look through his profile real quick so I won’t forget anything important – like his name. When I feel ready, I turn off the car and climb out. As I walk into the restaurant, I really wish that I could go home and watch TV on the couch with someone who shall no longer be named. My phone buzzes with an incoming text just as I turn it to silent.
Trey:
We’re friends, right? That’s what you
wanted.
I sigh, trying to think of something to say back to him when someone taps me on the shoulder. I look up and my mouth almost falls open. The man standing in front of me is gorgeous – dark hair, pale blue eyes, and a smirk that could melt the panties off anyone.
“Hi, are you Addy?” he asks, his voice smooth like melted butter, and I have to remind myself to put my tongue away.
“Um, yeah. Sorry. Trent, right?”
He smiles, making my belly do little flips and nods. “Shall we?” he asks, motioning to the restaurant. When I nod, he slips his arm around my waist and starts leading me to the podium where a sign sits, instructing us to wait to be seated. I fire off a quick text to Trey while we wait.
Me:
Yeah, we’re friends
A hostess leads us to our seat, eyeing my date up and down the entire time, and I just roll my eyes at her blatant attempt to get him to notice her. After she seats us and places a menu on both our plates, she flashes him a flirty smile and leaves.
“I’m so sorry about that. She was so rude,” Trent says, and I shrug.
“It’s all right.”
A look of genuine shock crosses his face, and he just stares at me for a couple of seconds. “That didn’t bother you?” he finally asks.
I shake my head. “Nope.”
“Wow, usually when I meet a girl like you, she gets super upset about stuff like that.”
“A girl like me?” I ask, reminded of Trey’s comment only a few short weeks ago.
“Yeah, you know. Gorgeous, smart, sexy.”
“Oh,” I breathe out, a blush staining my cheeks, but his compliment makes me feel a little weird. Not like Trey’s did that night. Every word he uttered about how sexy and amazing I was sunk into me like I was quicksand, almost like they’re branded on my skin now. Glancing down in my lap, I notice a text flashing on my phone and grab it.
Trey:
Good. Oh, don’t make any plans for tomorrow.
We have a show to catch up on
