“I imagined that moment so much but I never thought it would be like that,” I tell them. “After meeting Dean, I was so fucking jealous.”
Nix looks at me in surprise. “But you’re the one who was pushing the two of us together.”
“Well yeah! Because I saw your guys’ soul ties!”
“Our what?” Nix asks with a gasp of surprise.
“I saw your string of fate, the one that connects the two of you together.”
“Using Hazel’s ability?” Dean asks softly.
I nod my head. “I saw the line between the two of you. I pulled away from Hazel before I looked down at myself.”
“Oh, Kassian,” Nix murmurs, wrapping both of his arms around me. I lean against him, allowing myself to revel in the feeling of his strong arms, his broad chest. “That must have been awful. I’m so sorry you felt like you weren’t wanted or supposed to be with us.”
“I’m okay. All that matters is that we’re here now.”
Nix leans forward, kissing my cheek. A moment later, I feel Dean switch beds, sitting beside me on my other side. He kisses my cheek as well. I feel so warm, so safe in that moment. I’m tucked between my soulmates.
Soulmates.
This is the first time I’ve allowed myself to think the word. That’s what we are. That’s what those soul ties meant. We’re meant to be together. We’re meant to love and support each other. We were destined to end up here, one way or another.
The three of us get into our pajamas and crawl into bed together. For the first time, we’re sharing a bed. They allow me to get into the middle, each of them snuggled against me. We still have so much to talk about and discuss and work out, but that can wait until tomorrow. Right now, I’m content to lie here with my soulmates, content to know that we’re together.
Suddenly, the sound of something hits our ears.
“What the hell is that?”
It kinda sounds like something hitting the wall from the other side of it. It’s bonks over and over in a rhythm. Then we hear a loud groan.
“Oh my gods,” I murmur. “Is that Mars?”
“No fucking way,” Nix murmurs back. “Is he? Wait? With who?”
“It must be that secret admirer! The one who left him the love note!”
“What’s going on?” Dean asks.
“Mars is one of our security guys. We think he has a secret lover but we haven’t been able to figure out who yet! I think they must have come to visit him!”
The three of us stare up at the ceiling. I fall asleep happier than I’ve felt in a long time, but unfortunately, I fall asleep hearing Mars enjoy the horizontal tango next door.
Chapter Twelve
Nix
My arms tighten around the person in front of me. I run my nose over their hair, breathing them in. I feel so warm, so content. It takes me far longer than I care to admit to remember what happened last night.
When I do, my eyes snap open. I find Kassian in front of me. I’m spooning him, holding him tight. His hair is a mess against my face because he didn’t tie it up like he usually does. I look over his shoulder, finding the bed in front of Kassian empty.
Fuck, was everything last night just a dream? No, that’s not right because otherwise why would I be spooning Kassian? But where the fuck is Dean?
“Kassian,” I murmur, tucking my nose against his neck. “Kassian, wake up.”
Kassian hums softly. His eyes flutter before his body goes tense. “Nix?”
“I’m right here,” I whisper into his shoulder. “Good morning.”
