I stared at her. “No. Locker room talk. Adonis is probably questioning Jacob about our sex life.”

“Jacob and your sex life?”

“Yes.”

“You and Jacob don’t have a sex life,” she said.

“I know that! But Adonis doesn’t.”

“Um...Soph. He kinda does. You were talking about Jacob not having sex with you in class today.”

I groaned and looked up at the ceiling. I’d forgotten about that. I’d basically told Jacob I no longer needed a pity fuck because I knew for a fact that I was bad at sex.

“Why are you being so weird right now?” Scarlett asked. “It’s your mystery man. In the flesh. And he’s so hot.”

“He’s quite hideous actually.”

“Is he?” She walked to the archway to stare back into the living room.

“Don’t stare at him.” I grabbed her arm and pulled her back to the kitchen island.

“Okay. I won’t. As long as you admit that he’s hot.”

I waved my hand dismissively. “He’s mediocre at best.”

Scarlett shook her head and walked back toward the archway to stare.

“Fine!” I hissed. “He’s good looking. But I’m not attracted to him.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“Yes I’m sure about that. I like brown eyes. And brown hair. And ties. I really can’t imagine Adonis wearing a tie.”

Scarlett laughed. “He’s literally wearing a tie right now.”

“What?”

“It’s part of the school uniform, Soph.”

I peered around the archway to look at him. To really look at him. He was wearing a tie. Barely. It was loose around his neck like he’d been tugging at it all day. He’d tossed his blazer to the side and the sleeves of his dress shirt were rolled up, revealing his tan forearms. His dark hair was short on the sides, but longer on top. I remembered how soft it felt under my fingers when I’d danced with him.

He was mid-conversation with the guys, but he lifted his green gaze to mine.

I quickly ducked back into the kitchen. God. I can’t believe I’d just gotten caught ogling him.

Scarlett smiled at me. “You’re so attracted to him.”

I ignored her and went to the fridge. “What’s Jacob’s favorite snack?”

“Cupcakes,” Scarlett said.

“Right.” I knew that. “Do you have any of those just lying around? I don’t want to make them from scratch while they’re in there talking about us.”

“You don’t know that they’re talking about us.”

“Of course they’re talking about us.”

Scarlett shrugged. “No, we don’t have any cupcakes lying around.”
