A slow smile spread on his face. “I know how to find you.”
Of course he did.
If he’d found me all the way in Scotland, a library wouldn’t be much of a challenge.
“Terminator!” Makena high-fived him. “Joining our study session today?”
“Yeah.” Logan grinned, one hand on the shoulder strap of his rather light-looking backpack, the other around mine. “I’ve got loads to do.”
Makena nudged me. “I recommend the third-floor bathrooms. The official makeout spot.”
Logan’s lip quirked. “Noted.”
“No making out in the library,” I warned as we stepped through the revolving doors. “Just studying.”
He gave me a crisp military salute. “Yes, ma’am.”
Makena’s voice slipped into my mind. “I think he wants to study anatomy. Yours.”
“Hush.”
“Two more words?”
“I’m sure I’ll regret this but…go ahead.”
“Bruised. Cervix.”
Heat rushed to my cheeks. “Possibly.”
Logan glanced at me. “Hmm?”
“We talked about the possibility of Yvaine needing a cervical replacement after you—”
I covered her mouth with my hand. “Makena made a doctor joke.”
Logan grinned at me, eyeing Makena nodding from behind my hand. “Oh yeah?”
We reached our usual table where Amaia was typing furiously beside Tiziano, who hugged me and ignored Logan.
“Remember what we talked about,” I told him.
“And remember he cheated on you.”
My smile faltered.
Tiziano huffed and acknowledged Logan with the enthusiasm of someone seeing a foot with wet gangrene. Logan winked at him and sniffed in his direction. “You smell like dead rats.”
“I spent all morning dissecting lungs from cadavers,” Tiziano deadpanned. “And there’s a mouse living in the morgue.”
“Knew it! My nose never lies.”
“Easy to say when that’s the only sense you have.”
Logan patted his head. “Aww, the cadaver wasn’t good?”
“I’d rather have the cadaver for a mate than you, cheater.”
I almost swallowed my tongue.
