“She told me her dad already has patrols watching her and her twin. They’re the Alpha’s pups.” I paused. “But that’s not good enough.”
“Then we’ll keep an eye out for her too. And Amaia,” Killian added, glancing at Callum.
“If they’re still here, we’ll make sure their next move is permanent.” Tank Man cracked his knuckles, eyes glowing.
“Five feet underground,” Greg agreed, his wolf surfacing.
My mood soured despite their reassurances. How the fuck had I not thought about this before?
A huge hand landed on my shoulder; Callum had a silver band on his ring finger now. “It’s going to be fine.”
Killian mimicked him from my other side, his hand landing on my opposite shoulder. “You don’t have to handle this alone.”
I looked at both of them. My hands settled over theirs, and a small smile pulled at my mouth.
“I know.”
Killian, Callum, and I lived together on the edge of campus. Our apartment wasn’t far from the arena, provided nobody stopped us every two minutes.
But tonight, pack members intercepted us all the way back, talking wereball or tonight’s barbecue, though I had no idea we had invited them. Dark Diamond had over ten thousand members; it was impossible to host everyone.
Laughter spilled from our balcony. The place was already packed with teammates, friends, and girls from the women’s wereball team. Conversations paused the second Killian, Callum, and I walked in, dumping our sports bags by the door.
There was a hierarchy in every pack, and ours wasn’t exactly a secret.
“T!” Dylan, a packmate from Kochi who had dated Greg last semester and was now a good pal, called from the couch. A football match blared across the massive TV.
I dropped onto the seat and cracked a beer. Cans already littered the coffee table, and pizza boxes were stacked everywhere, some with slices, some empty.
He elbowed me. “Congrats on finding the one!”
“Yeah.” I smiled at the cheers, then snorted when the room erupted into wolf howls.
“Still can’t believe your mate’s the Islander’s twin,” Killian said, sitting next to me and taking a swig of beer. “I wasn’t really sure he even had one.”
“Nobody was.”
“You think the Islander was keeping her hidden because of the Matenapper?” Dylan asked, eyes on the TV.
“Partially.” I scratched my abs. “But she also doesn’t give a damn about wereball.”
“Show us a picture, come on! Her Instagram’s private,” Killian whined.
The only photos I had were screenshots from our calls. Absolutely fucking not.
“You’ll meet her tonight.”
The moment Killian stood up, two girls materialized—one with long braids, perched on my armrest, and the other, with cat paw tattoos all over her cleavage, slid onto the cushion at my other side.
“Hey, Captain!” Braids smiled over a can of Coke.
“Heard you destroyed them today.” Cat Paws smiled too.
Cat Paws touched my forearm and Braids leaned in. Just like that, I felt like I had cheated on my bunny.
I panicked and launched to my feet. “Stay back!”
Braids fell on her ass with a yelp and Cat Paws stumbled back, on the verge of tears.
