Logan scooped me up into his arms, settling me on his lap, burying his face in my neck. “Ahhh, paradise!”
“Friend in the room!” Killian shouted without looking away from the screen as he played Call of Duty, fingers tapping maniacally across the controller as he massacred virtual enemies, a bowl of popcorn mixed with M&Ms on his lap. Skeleton Man seemed to have everything he needed in life.
“No, Logan.” I wiggled free. It was rude to sit on his lap when Killian was here. “I want to spend quality time with Killian.”
“Fuck that.”
“Oh, come on, babe. Don’t be jealous,” Killian drawled.
With a long sigh, Logan let me go, leaned over to kiss my neck, then belly flopped onto the other couch. He fished out a mini waffle packet from his pocket.
“Sweet Pea, did I tell you Spiky Junior just bloomed?”
“No, you didn’t tell me.” I giggled. “What color are the flowers?”
“Yellow.” Killian scrunched his eyebrows. “You sure I don’t need to clean it up? It looks dusty.”
“I’ll bring you a cactus cozy next time. It helps with the dust.”
“Really? Do you have a cozy for pears too?”
“Only apples but it can work for pears!” I drummed my fingers. “I can’t wait for you to find your other half and show her your new cactus plantation, Killy.”
“You mean your martyr half?” Logan commented, lips curled into a smirk as he threw a waffle into his mouth. He was on his second pack.
“Logan, don’t be mean.” Killian had told me in secret that he missed his plants back at the pack, so I had given him a part of Spiky, my cactus. Seemed like a safe choice since all his previous plants had died after he forgot to water them.
My eyes shifted from the game to the second controller.
“You know how to play?” Killian asked, a massive grin on his face.
“I’ve tried once or twice,” I said vaguely. Little did he know I’d been playing with Lachlan my whole life.
I snatched the controller he dangled in front of me. “I’ll go easy on you, Sweet Pea.”
Same, Gentle Eyes.
At some point, Callum, Tank Man, Greg, and more hulks sauntered into the apartment. Noisy, chatty, and enormous—typical wereball players.
“Luna!”
“Comet girl!”
“Yo!”
They greeted me with a variety of nicknames before spreading throughout the living room. Some fetched beers, while others carried Korean takeout.
Logan shifted onto his back, hands behind his head. “Where have you douchebags been?”
I loved watching Logan with his friends. He always wore that small smile, a tiny curve of his lips that made him look at ease. Happy. Himself.
“Jeez, your ears are so big, I can’t see the screen,” Killian told Callum as he dropped onto the couch next to him.
“Big ears mean big intelligence,” Callum replied smoothly. “That’s why yours are so tiny.”
“Leave some decibels for the rest of us, C!” Tank Man shouted, the octopus tattooed on his head wrinkling as he laughed.
The twins continued trading insults as we played. The rest of the guys chatted while Logan ordered more food.
