She turns to me, eyes wide. “What?”
Fletcher opens his door, stepping out. Rex follows, already moving around to her side of the truck.
I get out and come around, opening her door before she can process any of it.
She doesn’t move right away.
Just sits there, staring at the house as if it might disappear if she blinks.
“Wayne,” she says. “What do you mean ours?”
I hold out my hand.
She takes it automatically, letting me help her down.
“Come look,” I say.
She follows.
We walk up to the porch together, Fletcher already unlocking the door, Rex hovering just behind her, ready to catch her if she forgets how to stand.
The door opens.
We step inside.
And June stops.
Her gaze moves across the space, taking it in piece by piece.
The main room. The light. The way everything feels open without being empty.
Her hand tightens in mine.
“This is…” she breathes. “This is huge.”
“Big enough,” I say.
She turns to me, eyes searching. “You bought this?”
“We bought this,” Rex corrects gently.
Her breath catches. “All of you?”
Fletcher nods once. “All of us.”
She looks back at the room, then down the hall, then back at us. “Why?”
“Because this is where we’re going to live,” I tell her. “All of us. Together.”
She shakes her head slightly, overwhelmed. “Wayne…”
“Come on,” Fletcher says quietly. “There’s more.”
We walk her through every room, every space.
“This will be Evan’s room,” Rex says, pushing open a door near the front.
June steps inside, looking around, trying to picture it. “It’s big enough for him. He’ll love it.”
