“They didn’t think it was funny when I said we would never bury strangers with our people.” Wrath smirks, making me laugh.

“Mav and Rebel have anything else to say?” Reaper asks, trying to get us back on topic.

“Mav said that there is a story going around about why Dansworth is so adamant about cleaning up the streets,” I tell him.

“Can’t wait to hear this one,” Pinky quips.

“Apparently.” I keep going as if Pinky never spoke. “He told them that he lost a brother to a biker gang and has lost his daughter to the same club. He wants to rid the streets of them because he knows what it’s like to be personally attacked by clubs and what it’s like to lose those he cares about.”

“Jesus Christ,” Honk mutters, shaking his head.

“I mean, it’s a good cover if you think about it,” I tell them.

“How? It’s a known fact that he was an only child. Sure, the Adalyn thing can ring true, but the other one could easily be fact-checked,” Wrath says.

I shake my head. “That’s if you are using the term ‘brother’ literally. He could be referring to a friend as a brother. As close as brothers.”

“He could be thinking of me,” Reaper says quietly.

“You two weren’t close, though. Yeah, you prospected together, but even you have admitted that you were closer to Jimmy Henderson,” Colt points out.

I’ve never heard the story of Reaper prospecting. Only that he did when his and Evelyn’s father was the president. So this is new information to me. It makes sense, though. I think all of us lost a brother or two while prospecting. Not just because of death, but because of not being accepted.

“Did you see that Dansworth is also wanting to up the taxes on the Strip by eight percent?” Midnight asks.

“The fuck? Increasing it to the maximum amount? How does he think that will keep him in office?” Wrath asks.

Midnight raises his hands in surrender. “No fucking clue. I just heard it from a customer today who was bitching about it. I guess right now it’s just being discussed.”

“Greedy fucker,” Kicks says.

“Vegas relies on tourism, and everyone already knows that it costs a penny to come here. They probably won’t bat an eye,” Reaper says.

“Yeah, but what would the money actually go toward is the question,” Colt says.

“I can try going through the recordings and see if he says anything along with his emails again,” Trigger says.

“Do it,” Reaper says. “Now onto the next order of business…”

Before he can continue, shit hits the fan. Screaming and yelling comes from the main room of the clubhouse.

“What the fuck?” Wrath yells as we all jump up.

We push each other as we rush to the door to find out exactly what the hell is going on.

Evelyn

“Have you seen The Odyssey yet? I hear it’s amazing,” Lainey says, looking over to where her twins are playing on their tablets. “I think I might take the girls this weekend. It might be a little bit boring for them, though.”

“No, but I bet Harlee has. What do you think?” I pop a chip in my mouth.

Harlee shakes her head.

“Have you not seen it yet? I figured you would since it has Tom Holland in it,” Natalie teases.

Harlee groans. “I want to, but Bullet is on a strike. He’s worried that my obsession with a married man is unhealthy.”

“Please, we both know that the only man you are obsessed with is him.” I laugh.
