He takes me down a hallway to what appears to be a section of dressing rooms.
“This one is mine. I expect you to come in here after the show.”
I touch the gold star over the door before tracing the name underneath. ‘Jett Black.’
I’m not sure what it’s made of, it appears it’s permanent, although I know better.
McKinley comes barreling toward me and I jump out of the way to prevent being a casualty of her excitement.
“Let’s go get our seats.”
I roll my eyes at her acting like it’s her first Dark Notes concert.
She takes my hand to pull me away but Jett grabs me by the waist and yanks me against his chest.
“Fucking wait.” He growls at her before slamming his lips to mine in a possessive, all consuming kiss that I feel from my head to my feet.
Cupping the back of my head, he holds me in place while he dives into my mouth and licks at my tongue with need.
“Angel,” he groans as he pulls back, leaving us both breathing heavily and me feeling love drunk.
“Break a leg.” I say with a grin.
McKinley points her finger at Jett.
“Or maybe don’t break my husband’s leg.”
Jett nods, “Best behavior. I promise.”
I’ve wanted to know him as a sober man, it’s everything I imagined and more.
McKinley and I sit in the front row as our men make music much more peacefully than the last time I saw Jett on stage.
I yell in my best friend’s ear, “I’ve never seen them with a grand piano.”
She shrugs like she doesn’t know either.
I assume Jett will be playing it since he plays all the keyboards for the band.
Jagger winks at McKinley, and I glance at her and notice the way her cheeks blush. I love that he still has the same effect on her.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the one and only, Jett Black.” Jagger yells into the microphone.
The house lights dim, the stage is dark other than a single spotlight on the piano where Jett now sits as his fingers dance over the keys. Turning his head to the side he glances at me with a sweet smile. This was planned, I know that for sure.
He speaks into the microphone sitting above the black grand piano.
“This one is called Angel.”
My heart stops from hearing the one word as the emotions dancing in my chest keep me frozen in place.
“If there is no god
How can there be angels
She makes me believe in something more powerful
than myself.
