Introduce her to every man on it. Let her see them clearly. Show her why each one is wrong for her until there are no names left.

Except mine.

The outcome has obvious appeal.

The logistics do not.

Elena asked me to help her find a husband. Eliminating every option until I become her only one would be possession disguised as assistance.

It would also leave her with a man who never intended to marry, two brothers unlikely to approve, and an alliance complicated enough without adding her to the center of it.

I can’t do that to her.

She catches my gaze in the mirror. “You’re staring.”

“I chose too well.”

Her smile is small, carrying a hint of shy satisfaction. “Is it too much?”

“For the club? No.”

“For you?”

“Yes.”

Her smile grows. “Then why did you pick it?”

“Turn around.”

She turns slowly. I can’t keep my eyes off her ass.

“Again.”

She laughs. “I thought we had somewhere to be.”

“I’m reconsidering.”

“Because of the outfit you chose?”

“Because I prefer it on my bedroom floor.”

Her cheeks turn pink.

I hold out my hand. “Come here, princesa.”

She walks to me. I adjust the edge of her top even though it doesn’t need adjusting, then kiss her because I’ve stopped pretending I need a reason.

She melts into me immediately, fingers curling into the front of my shirt. I let myself enjoy it for several seconds longer than necessary before lifting my mouth from hers.

“We should go,” I murmur.

“You’re the one who keeps delaying us.”

“I’m aware.”

In the car, she settles beside me with her legs crossed and her nerves pretending to be curiosity. My hand rests on her thigh for most of the drive. She doesn’t move it.

I don’t offer to.
