She glances out the window. “Obsidian is open now?”
“No. Kingston is giving an exhibition for a private guest list.”
“For me?”
“For several invited members.”
“But a little for me.”
“You put a star beside his name.”
Her lips twitch. “That star really bothered you.”
“It was poorly placed.”
“It was beside his name. That seems like the correct place.”
My thumb presses into her thigh. “Careful.”
She laughs beneath her breath, then looks out the window again as the city lights move across her face.
“Is Throne already there?”
I’m beginning to hate his name.
“Yes.”
She nods like that’s fine. Like I haven’t considered destroying the list several times today.
“How are you introducing me?” she asks. “As your trainee? A submissive? Or just Elena?”
My fingers tighten slightly on her thigh.
“As Elena.”
Her gaze turns to me.
“Mine for the evening,” I add.
I like the way it sounds.
Her breath catches, soft enough that she probably thinks I miss it.
I don’t miss anything with her.
The valet opens her door when we pull up to Obsidian, but I’m already around the car before he can offer her his hand.
She takes mine instead.
Inside, the club is awake in a way it hasn’t been in months. Low music. Dim light. Leather, perfume, expensive liquor, and anticipation threaded through the air. Familiar faces turn toward me and then toward the woman at my side.
I guide her to the front desk before anyone decides curiosity is worth approaching her.
The woman behind the counter straightens. “Mr. Castillo.”
“I need a trainee bracelet for Elena.”
Elena looks at me. “A trainee bracelet?”
