“Oh my god,” Wyatt groaned, tipping his head toward the ceiling. “You and about fifty other men, huh, boss?”
Pressing my fingers to my chest, I straightened my back and pulled my shoulders to my ears. “I don’t give a shit how you feel. You knew I was with Chazzy. You knew I loved her.”
“You loved her so much, then why did you come to me, huh?”
“You were an easy lay!” I laughed, motioning both arms her way. “I’m a fucking man, you had willing pussy, I took it. You were never permanent, though. You are not loveable. You are not commitment worthy. That’s my fiancée. You…are not my problem.”
She folded her arms and tapped a foot, sneering. “I think Chazz might wanna know she gonna have a step kid one day.”
“This is not my kid, and you know it. You are either after me or my money, but you’re going the get neither.”
She moved her hands to her hips and snickered bitterly. “Oh, I’m gonna get ‘em both, sugar. If not, I’m gonna go right to Chazz about this.”
My anger switched to the deadly point, bringing a calmness and fading the chaos. Filling my lungs with air, my stance relaxed as I pocketed my hands.
Jennifer tensed at my demure, patting her gloved palms together anxiously.
“You have no idea who you’re fucking with, you stupid bitch,” I warned in a low, even tone.
Her throat visibly constricted, the blood draining from her cheeks. “It’s your baby, Milo. It’s gotta be.”
Feigning surprise, I did a doubletake and snickered. “It’s got to be? What happened to, there was no one else?”
“I mean.” She whimpered, her face scrunching with fresh tears. “I’m pretty sure it’s yours.”
A low, sinister chuckle rumbled my chest. “Get the fuck out of my house. If you know what’s good for you, don’t come back.”
When she hesitated, Wyatt took one aggressive step toward her. Yelping, she spun on the toe of her sneakers and ran outside, slamming the door in her hasty retreat.
A thick blanket of silence draped over the room while I stared at the floor, and he stared at me. What the hell was I supposed to do now? A baby from an affair?
I would bet my life that it wasn’t mine, but still, this was going to devastate Chastity. In less than seven weeks, she catches me dicking her best friend, then getting head from another after I promised fidelity, and now this. All the traumas so close together would be too much for her. She didn’t deserve this.
“Wyatt.”
“Yeah, boss?”
“You know what to do.”
He huffed, thumbing his nose. “Yup.”
He stomped down the hallway, the metal door creaking open and closing for the third time. Going to the island to retrieve my water from earlier, I took off the cap and held it in front of my mouth, panic taking over my senses.
I couldn’t lose Chastity over this. I wouldn’t allow it. She would hate me forever if Jennifer told her she was pregnant with my kid. Eventually, when the kid was born – if she was even pregnant – a simple DNA test would prove it wasn’t mine, but the damage would be done. Damage that would be permanent and I could never fix. Chastity would hold this hurt the rest of her life.
Growling, I flung the bottle across the kitchen. It hit the potted plants in the window behind the sink, knocking them over. One hit the faucet and shattered, the soil and leaves spilling everywhere.
“God – dammit!” I roared, kicking the cabinet on the island so hard, the door cracked.
Snatching my keys off the table, I ran out of the apartment. I had to get home to Chastity. From now on, until Jennifer was taken care of, neither me nor Wyatt would let her out of our sight.
And from now on, until I got rid of them, my dick didn’t go near any whore without a condom.
Chapter 5
Wyatt Shaw
Sitting low in my seat, my elbow propped on the window, I held a cigarette in front of my mouth. My sight was fixated on the glass wall of the salon where Jennifer worked. Flitting my attention up, I gazed at the window where she and Chastity used to live. How had she lived in such squalor for so long, and been content? It blew my mind how humble she was.
