“No, but I can’t believe you sided with Zenobi.”

“Come on, man. I didn’t side with them. I’m with you one hundred percent, but Pax is an ally and we don’t treat women like that. We do a lot of shady shit, but we never go after women—ever. You were crossing a line.”

“You finished?” Alex knew some of what Blake said was true, he had crossed a line.

“Yeah, man, I said my piece.”

“Fine. Get your shit and tell Pax to get hers, we’re going to Capraia.” He started towards the house before stopping and turning to Blake who was grinning. “And for God’s sake, fuck her already and get her out your system before Evelyn gets back and breaks your balls for fucking her friend over.”

“Fuck off, man. It ain’t like that.”

“Oh, it’s definitely like that.” Alex could see Reid’s smirk as he stubbed his cigarette on the wall and binned it.

“Anyway, when I tell Evelyn what you did,” Blake shouted at Alex, “it ain’t my balls you’re gonna need to worry about.”

Gunner looked up as the three walked in. “Get what you need?”

“Capraia. Pull up the maps.” He leaned over Gunner’s shoulder who was typing one-handed.

“Move out of the way.” Liam took over, typing at a much quicker pace. The maps showed an island that was surrounded by dark patches of rock indicating getting a boat close would be a fucking nightmare.

“Shit.” Gunner leaned back and surveyed the map.

“We need to bring in the rest of the team. An assault like this needs more frogs in the sea and men on the ground,” Gunner said.

“No. If we do that we risk being seen by the villagers. We don’t know if they are hostiles too.” Plus, after what Booth had told him about wanting the team exposed that would be the perfect way to do it get them all together and then boom. “We need another way.”

“I could put a call into Roz. She could have someone here in twenty-four hours!”

“No. Not to be an asshole, Pax, but I don’t know your girls that well and I don’t trust them. Not because of what you all did but because I don’t trust anyone I haven’t worked with. It isn’t personal.” He held up his hand to stop Pax and noted that Blake kept his trap shut about the subject.

“Fair point.” She nodded her head in understanding.

“What about the ferry?” Liam pointed to the screen. “We can go in with the tourist group.”

“And a group of men and one woman won’t look suspicious as hell?”

“We could tell them we’re shooting a porno.” Liam winked which made Pax glare and give him the finger.

“How about Fortis?” asked Gunner. “We can see if Lucy and Roz are available and they might even be able to send a few of the guys as back up.”

“That could work. Let me put in a call to Jack and see what he thinks.” Alex moved towards the patio door. If he was going to get his ass handed to him by his boss, he didn’t need everyone to hear it. Hitting call, he waited for Jack to answer.

“Go.” Jack had answered the call in his usual brisk fashion.

Alex could tell by his tone he was pissed. “Are we secure?” He heard Jack moving around on his end.

“Yes.”

“Osiris has Evelyn on an island called Capraia. It’s a ferry ride from Livorno which is six hours drive from here.”

“I’ll send Decker, Waggs, Mitch, and I’ll come—”

“No, we can’t do that.” Alex was quick to interrupt Jack. “Booth said that the same man is paying both him and Osiris to draw us out and expose us. Whoever it is, wants us all dead.”

“Fuck.” The word had a wealth of meaning but right then it showed how pissed Jack was. “You can’t do this on your own. She’ll be heavily guarded if Osiris has her.”

“I know, and Pax suggested Zenobi, but I don’t trust them enough. We have no clue who the fucking traitor is or who they are working with or for but best guess—the fucker wants us all dead.”
