“Stephanie, this is Xavier,” Derek said, not even noticing the look on my face. “He owns the Charleston Construction Company and is looking to partner with us for renovation and remodeling projects.” I smiled politely as heat radiated from my ears.

“It’s nice to meet you,” I said as I stuck out my hand to shake his. He smiled a charming smile that made him look like Prince Charming from a fairytale.

“The pleasure is all mine,” he said as he took my hand in his. Before I could shake his hand, he had gently turned my tiny, delicate hand into his giant, masculine hand and brought it to his lips for a kiss. I blushed as his lips touched my hand, and Skye cleared her throat.

“If you gentlemen don’t mind,” she said as she looked at Derek, “I have a slight emergency to take care of. Stephanie, will you come with me, please?” I started to protest, but the look she gave me reminded me of the old Skye, and I immediately knew it was better not to argue.

“Of course,” I said, still breathless from the sudden appearance of the dreamboat that was Xavier.

As I rose to my feet, Skye grabbed my hand and pulled me away to the bathroom, nearly yanking me from my feet in the process. She raced towards the bathroom, and I struggled to keep up without falling. The whole way, I wondered what had upset her so much about Xavier, but when we were safe in the bathroom, she stopped and whirled on me faster than anything. At first, I thought she was going to attack me, but instead, she grabbed me by the shoulders and shook me urgently.

"I know what you're thinking, but if you know what's good for you, you'll stop it right now and keep things strictly business," she warned in a low voice. "I think you are drop-dead gorgeous, but, as your friend and boss, I insist you stay away from him. I'll not let you get your heart broken by him." I frowned in confusion as I pried her hands from my suit.

"What are you talking about?" I asked. Skye took a deep breath and shook her head.

"Xavier is a notorious womanizer and a player," she informed me, and I sighed. Of course, he was.

"Can't exactly say I blame the women," I said as I thought about him. "It doesn't surprise me. Someone that good looking always has a secret dark side. I guarantee you that even Derek has a dark secret he's keeping." Skye flinched.

"Well, yes, but I already know it," she remarked. "Besides, that's not important." I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Really?" I asked, more intrigued than surprised. "I was just kidding." Realizing she was still my boss, I shook my head. "Sorry, I shouldn't pry." Skye shook her head.

"It's nothing too bad," she told me. "A little strange, maybe, but nothing terrible." When I didn't speak up right away, she sighed. "He's a Daddy." I frowned at her.

"Like a father?" I asked, and she shook her head. "Oh, like the sexual daddy-daughter type." She frowned a little at me.

"You know about stuff like that?" she asked. "I never thought you were the type, especially since you just said you never had a boyfriend." I shook my head.

"My sister is a Little," I explained. "Her Daddy' is a stockbroker from New York, and he takes care of her." Skye nodded.

"So, you're familiar with the idea?" she asked, and I nodded. “So, we agree?” I nodded again, this time in agreement.

“I’ll stay away from Xavier,” I agreed. “I don’t need my heart getting broken by someone like that.” Skye sighed in relief.

“Good,” she said as she smiled at me. “Hey, I wasn’t kidding about what I said. If you want, I could help you find somebody. If that’s not overstepping any boundaries.” I smiled and shook my head.

“Not at all,” I told her, thankful to have a friend like her. “You’re a good friend.”

CHAPTER SIX

Xavier

The mystery girl that Derek had brought to dinner was far better than I ever imagined. She was beautiful, more so than Bernice and Bianca, and I immediately forgot about the two of them when I saw her. As soon as I touched her delicate hand, I knew I had to make her mine. To hell with what everyone else said.

"Earth to Xavier," Derek said as he waved a hand in my face. I frowned as I snapped out of my trance.

"What happened?" I asked, immediately afraid that I had missed something. Derek laughed and shook his head.

"Did you just fall for my associate?" he laughed as he shook his head. "You can't be serious. Skye would never allow it." I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Since when was Skye in charge of your relationship?" I asked, and he narrowed his eyes at me.

"Never," he remarked as he stared at me. "I also make sure my Little is happy, even if it means looking out for her friends." I rolled my eyes.

"Come on," I protested. "That's not fair. It's not like the other one is your Little as well." Derek shrugged.

"So?" he asked. "My Little's happiness comes first, and if protecting her friend from getting her heart broken is what it takes to keep my Little happy, so be it.” I sighed and shook my head, my erection uncomfortably high in my pants.
