“What if we made a deal?” I asked, and he stopped to stare at me in amused curiosity.
“Go on,” he said, and I smiled.
“If I can win her over, I’ll settle down, just like you want me to,” I promised. “No more messing around, no more playdates, and no more jumping from Little to Little.” I leaned in. “She will be my forever Little.” Derek chuckled.
“That’s if she’ll have you,” he pointed out. “If I know Skye, they’re in the bathroom right now promising that, if Stephanie stays away from you, Skye will help her find a Daddy. Stephanie looks like the type to keep that promise.” I smiled at him.
“Alright, let’s make it interesting,” I told him. “If I can get Stephanie to be mine by the end of the night, you have to give me fifty percent of the profits from the first contract we do, and you convince Skye to leave things be.” Derek smiled and nodded in agreement.
“And, if you fail, you stay the hell away from Stephanie forever,” he wagered. “However, no cheating. All consensual, no loopholes.” I nodded in agreement and offered him my hand.
“Deal,” I agreed, and we shook hands.
“What’s a deal?” Skye asked as she and Stephanie appeared behind us.
As certain as we were about Skye warning Stephanie about me, I still saw a starstruck expression in her eyes as she stared at me, and I planned to use everything I had to get her to be mine before the end of the night. It wasn’t even for the extra profit, even though it would be a plus. No, Stephanie was the main prize, and, whatever I wanted, I get. It was all about winning over the sweet girl sitting next to Skye.
When we got to our table, Skye and Derek sat on one side of the table, and Stephanie and I sat in the booth across from them. I made sure to sit across from Skye to protect Stephanie from her influence as I made my move. Derek had promised not to intervene, but I was more worried about Skye keeping Stephanie away from me. Say what you would about her as a Little; she was still a force to be reckoned with. Dinner was relatively quiet, being only business-related. Once the final check came, I nudged Derek with my foot, and he yawned.
“Well, I have work to do in the morning,” he yawned as he smiled at Skye. “Shall we take Stephanie home then go home ourselves?” Before Skye could answer, I smiled at them.
“I can take Stephanie home for you,” I offered immediately, ignoring the glare that Skye gave me. “After all, I need to stop by my office, anyway.” Derek smiled and nodded.
“That’s a great idea,” Derek said as he smiled at me. He then turned to Skye. “I trust that she’s in good hands.” Skye narrowed her eyes at him a moment, and the two stared each other down, refusing to let up for the other. After a minute, Skye sighed and nodded.
“Call me when you get home,” she told Stephanie, and the meek Stephanie nodded in agreement.
“I will,” she said. “Have a good night.” With that, Derek and Skye got up, and I looked at Stephanie as soon as we were alone. Restraining myself, I smiled politely at her with my most charming smile.
“Are you ready to head home?” I asked, and I noticed her quivering in her seat. God, the game of winning hearts was always so much fun, but this woman took the cake. She was worth a thousand of Bernice and a million of Bianca. I had to make her mine.
“You’re going to take me straight home, right?” she asked, and I nodded in agreement.
"Of course," I told her. "That is unless you need to go somewhere first." She thought for a second.
"Well, my car is still at the office," she informed me, and I tilted my head at her.
"Do you want to go get it at this time of night?" I asked, playing the role of the prince charming. "I don't want anything happening to my associate." She frowned in confusion at me.
"Associate?" she asked, sounding delicate and confused. I nodded.
"Yes, we're associates," I told her. "Derek told me about your promotion and how you'll be helping me with the company relationship. The last thing I would want is for you to get hurt because I took you to get your car." Like putty in my hands, she caved, and my arousal throbbed uncontrollably.
"I guess you're right," she agreed with a gentle smile. "Straight home then. I'll give you the address since I've never been in this part of town before." Oh, this was too easy.
CHAPTER SEVEN
Stephanie
I already had a bad feeling about this, especially after what Skye had told me about Xavier. Of course, I already knew that Derek and Skye wouldn’t purposely leave me in a dangerous situation, so I figured that, as long as I stand my ground and not give in to that charming smile or bewitchingly handsome face, I’ll be set. It was a battle of wills, and I had to win.
“Shall we?” Xavier asked as he offered me his hand. I snapped out of my trance and nodded, ignoring his hand completely.
“Yes,” I said as I stood up on my own. “I’m ready to go home.” He smiled and nodded towards the door, and we both set out.
He led me straight to his giant, black truck, and I was afraid that the battle was going to be over before it even began. As he opened the door for me, he offered me his hand, and, rather than grasping his hand and giving him the satisfaction, I grabbed the handlebar and pulled myself up. It took a lot to get up into the truck, but I still pushed myself. Anything to make sure he didn’t have to help me up. Just as I managed to climb up, I felt my skirt rip, and I felt the color drain from my face.
“Are you okay?” he asked, an amused smile on his face. I took a deep breath and forced a smile.
