Epilogue

Lainey

Two weeks later…

The past few weeks had been a whirlwind as my Alphas helped me gather all the pieces of my life scattered all over Breona. I had various stash houses and crash pads for one reason or another. Thankfully, I was a rather detailed person keeping track of where my things ended up. Now it was all finally under one roof, and Lainey Caddel had been reborn with official paperwork and identification. Kerian had kept his promise and found all the documentation I’d destroyed.

I stepped in front of the full-length mirror in my room and smoothed my hands over the satin dress the guys had left on my bed this morning. It was black, but with the satin, it had a slight shimmer to it. The classic sweetheart cut of the bust and the off-the-shoulder wrap gave it such a stunning simple elegance. It fell to midthigh, giving it that modern twist without being overdone. Truly, I don’t think they could have picked a more perfect dress to fit my style, and that thought is what put a smile on my face.

There was a soft knock on my door before Quintin entered, looking dashing in his dark green suit. “I was just coming to check on you since guests will be arriving soon.”

Halstead held to his commitment that he would announce us as a pack, which he did yesterday in a news interview. Tonight is a party with their friends at the house, where we plan to tell them I’m pregnant. We agreed that going on national television and saying we were a family was one thing, but to also share we were expecting seemed the wrong tone. None of us wanted people to think we were telling the world about us just because I’d gotten pregnant. Halstead handled the questions beautifully as to why he kept it a secret for so long. Many found it romantic that he would be so concerned for us, and their stocks went through the roof.

The lawyers were pulling together paperwork for shares to be taken from the three of them and given to me, creating an equal piece of the company. They were also waiting for the official documents stating that I was, in fact, their bonded Omega which we couldn’t do until we were… well… bonded.

“I have to be honest, I’m really surprised Halstead offered to host the dinner here at the house,” I commented as I slipped on my heels, holding onto Quintin for support. “He’s always seemed so adamant about no one being here.”

“Well, I suppose the fact the world now knows the truth, keeping us cloistered away doesn’t serve a purpose,” Quintin reasoned. “That, and I think he wants you to feel included in all aspects of our lives. These are friends we’ve had for years, and while we didn’t admit we were together, we didn’t hide it from them either. More like there was an unspoken rule to keep your opinions to yourself.”

Doing a little twirl, I posed for Quintin. “How do I look?”

“Absolutely stunning. H was right when he picked out that dress for you. He said it would be perfect,” he answered, pulling me to him and pressing a light kiss to my lips. “Don’t want to ruin the makeup before everyone gets here.”

“It’s fine, I have more,” I teased, kissing him back but still keeping it tame. “Shall we head down?”

Quintin tucked my arm through his, and we made our way to the first floor. Halstead and Kerian were talking about something in the foyer but stopped the moment they spotted us.

“Holy shit,” Kerian blurted. “You look amazing.”

“Why thank you, Keri,” Quintin quipped.

He gave the man a patronizing look. “Quin, I already told you how good you looked the first time you put that suit on today.”

Quintin cleared his throat and adjusted his sleeves, a slight pink blooming on his cheeks. “Pre-party quickie, I like it.” I chuckled, giving Quintin a playful slap on the arm. “Hope you two aren’t too tired to play with me after this party’s over.”

All the men started to purr with excitement at the mention of sex. There was an interesting phenomenon now that I was pregnant. It was almost as if my scent changed along with my hormones, even this early in the grand scheme of things to make me super fucking horny. Not to mention the ability to make all my guys hard in an instant as if they were in a perpetual rut. The whole thing made no sense, I was already pregnant. What did getting them all randy do? Well, it certainly kept me in a good mood, that’s for damn sure.

“Are we sure we need to have this party?” Halstead questioned. “I’m more than happy to tell them that we changed our minds, so I can bend you over the dining room table just to show you how not tired I am.”

Laughter burst out of me, knowing he’d have zero problem doing it too. “No, we need to be social… besides, I hear a car pulling up now.”

Halstead muttered something under his breath just as Ruth walked into the room with a tray of drinks. “I figured you might need something to settle the ogre down,” she commented, handing him a glass of whiskey. “Be warned… you only get four of them tonight per your fellow pack members’ rules. Don’t shoot the messenger, but when it’s three against one, they win.”

“Four?” Halstead demanded, looking at us. “Why only four?”

“Really?” I asked, hand on my hip. “What are the chances of you keeping up tonight if you drink more than four?”

That shut him up as he took a conservative sip from his glass just as someone knocked. Adem, one of Ruth’s husbands, was manning the door tonight and pulled it open. Tabitha entered with two other men and a woman, who I assumed was her pack. When Tabitha spotted me, she smiled and reached her hands out to me.

“Lainey, you sneaky woman keeping secrets,” Tabitha said as she greeted me with a light kiss to each cheek. “Why on earth didn’t you say anything when we last spoke? It was only four days ago.”

“Sorry, Halstead was adamant about making sure everyone found out at the same time, but also because he knew you’d be invited to this,” I divulged.

“Well, it certainly explains things,” she commented. “Oh, let me introduce you to Amelia.”

Tabitha turned and held out a hand to the other woman, a petite thing with silky black hair and emerald eyes. The moment I caught her scent, I knew she was an Omega, but the marks on her neck and collarbone would have given it away too.
