“You don’t look the worse for wear.” She gave a kiss on his cheek.

“No, but you do.” Dil smiled smugly as he raked over Rafe’s naked form. “I told you he was all yumminess.”

“You seem to be enjoying this a bit too much. Eyes up here.” Rafe snapped his fingers, trying to turn the elf’s attention away from his hard cock. His eyes narrowed, irritated by the elf’s enjoyment of their predicament.

“Can’t blame me for enjoying the show,” Dil replied with a smirk.

“You might want to put some clothes on, son.” Another male voice joined the conversation with more than a hint of amusement.

Nora and Rafe both turned around quickly, finding Nora’s parents sitting on the couch. Rafe felt a dark hue cover his face and quickly found his jeans and put them on. Even as an alpha, facing his mate’s parents in such a state was not something he wished to experience.

“Mom. Dad.” Nora flew to her parents who rose and greeted her with open arms. “I’m so glad you are alright.”

“Never better, sweetheart.” Her mother smiled. “Seems you are alright too.”

Dil laughed at Rafe’s discomfort, clearly delighting in the situation. “You should have seen this coming, big guy.”

“Watch it,” Rafe warned, his voice low and dangerous. “Or I’ll tell them about your bedroom escapades.” He gestured towards the sex dungeon, hoping to catch Dil off guard.

“Please,” Dil scoffed, unfazed. “They already know.”

Nora gasped, her face turning as red. “Oh, gods,” she stammered, recalling some of the toys they had used last night. Her parents didn’t seem fazed at all, which only heightened her embarrassment.

“Sweetheart, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before,” her mother said gently, trying to reassure her.

“Or done,” her father whispered softly, gazing at his wife hungrily.

“Let’s just... move past this,” Nora said, desperate to change the subject. “This is Rafe, my mate.”

Despite the awkward situation, Nora’s parents immediately accepted Rafe, even if their expression held a hint of amusement. As they talked, Rafe stood beside her, his strong presence both protective and distracting.

“So, this spell—”

“Mating spell!” Dil shouted out.

Nora rolled her eyes at his enthusiasm. “The spell is gone?”

“Yes. It dispersed sometime last night. Although there are some lingering effects.” Her mother glanced between Nora and Rafe and smiled.

“You won’t believe what all happened in town, girl.” Dil joined them in front of the fireplace.

“Go on,” Nora urged, curiosity piqued. When she and Rafe had left Heaven’s Gates, it had been getting hot and heavy.

“Mrs. Thompson,” her dad began, chuckling. “She tried to seduce Mr. Haggerty right outside the bakery.”

“Really?” Nora gasped, laughter bubbling up.

“And Mr. Haggerty—” Dil interjected, “—he was so flustered he accidentally set his pants on fire.” The room erupted in laughter, the tension momentarily forgotten.

“Anyone else affected?” Rafe asked, his deep voice sending shivers down Nora’s spine. “Like wolves.”

Dil smiled at Rafe. “Well, they were affected, but not in a bad way if you know what I mean.” Seeing the worry still in Rafe’s eyes he relented with this teasing. “There were no blood baths, fights to the death, or other violent activities. Merely a bunch of horny wolves getting their funk on.”

“Thank you.”

“Oh, it was my pleasure, alpha, if you know what I mean. You’ve got some really bad ass wolves in that bunch.”

Rafe growled in warning which just made Dil laugh even harder.
