“No.” She gave him a smile that would have melted the hardest of hearts. His was already hers. “What in the heaven’s was that?”

Rafe laughed, pressing a soft kiss to her throat. “Our mating heat.” He stroked Nora’s hair, marveling at how perfectly she fit against him. “I told you that you were mine, and now you are—in every way.”

“That didn’t seem natural,” she murmured, moving her legs so she could clamp them around his waist. She felt so empty now without him inside her. She wanted him again.

“Oh, it was completely natural baby. I think because of your magic, it was a little more intense.”

“Not because of the spell?”

“No. You said yourself you are immune to magic. And,” he nuzzled her neck, licking across the mark he’d just made. “And your love is the only magic I seek.”

Nora laughed, even as her eyes filled with tears. “Did anyone ever tell you what a cheeseball you are?”

“Your cheeseball, baby.” He dipped his head and kissed her again, a sweet, unhurried kiss that sealed the promise of their bond.

For a long moment, they lay tangled together, panting for breath. Rafe wrapped his arms more securely around his mate, holding her close as if he never intended to let go. His wolf rumbled in contentment, sated for now but eager to claim their mate again.

With utter certainty, Rafe knew he would never feel lonely again.

CHAPTER SIX

. . .

Morning light crept through the window, illuminating Rafe’s muscular form as he lay next to Nora. A sound in the living room jolted him awake, his instincts on high alert. He listened carefully; concern etched on his face. Immediately, his wolf rose to the surface. As he slipped from the bed, Nora turned over. The movement revealed the naked slope of her breasts—red and beard roughed from the night before. It was just one of the many ways he had marked her body.

“What’s wrong?” She opened her eyes, worry in the brown depths.

“I thought I heard someone. Why don’t you get up and get dressed?” Even as he spoke his senses were torn between staying tuned to his surroundings and the desire that burned between them.

He offered her a hand. Nora took it and let him help her up. She winced a little at the soreness between her legs. He had taken her in every way she’d ever imagined a man and woman could come together—and then in a few she never would have imagined in a million years.

To say her wolf was an extremely satisfying lover would be the understatement of the millennium.

Rafe found Nora’s clothes and helped her dress, his hand running over her body even as they hurried. His clothes were still in the living room.

“Fuck, Nora,” Rafe groaned, his erection painfully obvious in his state of undress. “I want to take you again.”

“Promises, promises,” she teased, breathless and flushed.

Just then a loud bang sounded from the living room, leaving neither in doubt that someone—or something—was out there.

Rafe pushed Nora behind him, prepared to fight whoever had discovered them. He’d have to face whatever awaited them naked, but that was natural occurrence for a shifter.

Instead of the door being shoved open, they heard the loud clearing of a male throat on the other side.

“Sorry to disturb you guys, but this lovefest is over.”

Nora laughed, losing the grip she had on Rafe’s shoulders. “Dil! It’s Dil.”

“Great,” Rafe murmured, his hand on the doorknob.

“Are you sure you want to go out there like that?” Nora asked, her voice laced with lust and more than a touch of amusement as she took in his naked form—and his half hard cock.

“Seems I have little choice.”

“Right, none of Dil’s clothes will fit you. I’m all for it, wolf-man.” She walked past him, her hand coming out to stroke his cock as she passed, which immediately had it hardening to a full erection.

“Time’s up lovebirds,” Dil drawled, amusement dripping from his words as Nora opened the door. He held out his arms and Nora walked into them, giving her friend a hard hug.
