“Who knew mating heat could cause such chaos?” Nora mused, leaning into Rafe’s embrace.

“New Haven hasn’t seen anything like this in years,” her mom added.

“Um, I have some news,” Nora blurted out, her voice shaky as she tried to refocus everyone’s attention. “My magic...it’s…I think, well, it’s under control now. And stronger. Much, much stronger.”

“Of course, it is, dear,” her mother replied, a knowing smile playing on her lips. “Now that you’ve found your soulmate, your powers are bound to grow.”

“Really?”

“Absolutely,” her father chimed in. “It’s all part of the process.”

“Speaking of processes...” Nora hesitated, her face heating up once more. “I think I may have been responsible for the... uh, the mating heat spell we experienced.” She glanced at Rafe, who gave her a reassuring nod. They had finally figured out what was going on last night, after they had mated.

“Go on,” her mother encouraged, her expression open and understanding.

“Last night, when Rafe came into the bar, I felt this... surge of power,” she explained, her words tumbling over one another in her haste. “It was so intense, and I couldn’t control it—just like my spells. I didn’t cast a spell, but something happened. I know it did.”

Nora’s mother smiled warmly, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “It was just like that with me, too, you know.”

“Wait, what?” Nora’s jaw dropped in disbelief, shock rippling through her body. “You did something like this?”

Her father chuckled, his gaze meeting Nora’s mother’s before returning to his daughter. “Your mother wasn’t always in control of her powers either, sweetheart.”

The revelation left Nora speechless, a whirlwind of emotions battling within her. She never imagined her parents could have experienced such intense passion and chaos as she and Rafe had.

“Is there something else that needs to be shared?” Dil’s voice cut through the moment, his pointed ears twitching with barely controlled excitement.

Rafe looked puzzled at firs at the elf’s strange question. Then comprehension dawned.

“What do you mean, Dil?” Nora demanded.

Dil snickered. “Ask lover boy there.”

“Uh, well,” Rafe rubbed the back of his neck, muscles flexing under his skin. “I didn’t want to tell you like this, but... you’re pregnant, Nora.”

Silence enveloped the room, as if time itself had screeched to a halt. Nora’s breath hitched, her mind racing with the implications. Pregnant? Was it even possible? They’d barely known each other for a day.

But then, they had fucked the entire night.

But how could he tell so soon?

“Are you sure?” she managed to choke out, her voice barely audible.

“Absolutely,” Rafe confirmed, his unwavering gaze locked onto hers. “I can sense the new life.”

As the words sank in, Nora felt herself teetering on the edge of panic. A baby with Rafe—their connection already so strong, so consuming—what would it mean for their future? For her magic? How could she possibly handle it all?

“Hey, look at me,” Rafe murmured gently, his large hand cupping her face and forcing her eyes to meet his. “We’ll figure this out together, Nora. I’m not going anywhere.”

His sincerity enveloped her like a warm embrace, soothing her frayed nerves and calming the storm within. And somehow, despite the chaos surrounding them, Nora found herself believing him.

After congratulating them, Nora’s parents left. She couldn’t help but feel a mixture of relief, embarrassment, and excitement coursing through her veins. She was beginning a new chapter in her life with Rafe, one filled with magic, passion, and love—and she knew deep down that they were destined for great things together.

EPILOUGE

Two months later…

Two months had passed since the heat swept through town. Rafe had moved his pack to New Haven to be closer to Nora. They had discussed the possibility of Nora moving in with his pack, but since she was pregnant, they decided being close to her mother and the coven in town was the best thing to do.
