"Mmm?" Kyrie mumbled against my neck, his words slurred from the alcohol.

My eyes snapped open and reality hit me all at once. Shit, it was Kyrie. I squeezed my eyes shut for half a second, hoping I hadn't actually said it out loud.

"What are you doing? What time is it?"

"After two," he murmured against my skin. "Left work early."

I could smell the liquor on him before I fully registered what he was saying, and something in the back of my mind reminded me that he only ever got like this when he'd been drinking. The alcohol always had him like this.

His hand between my legs, and I let out a soft moan. The dream had already disappeared, and reality had taken its place. But that didn’t stop me from thinking about Jokah.

"Kyrie..."

"I missed you," he whispered, pulling my shorts down and tossing them somewhere off the edge of the bed.

He pulled me closer until my back rested against his chest, wrapping an arm around my waist like he was trying to make up for every canceled plan and every excuse he fed me over the past few weeks. His lips brushed the side of my neck before latching on and sucking my skin. For a moment, I let myself settle into the familiarity of it all, wondering if this was the man I had fallen in love with or just another version of him that only showed up after a few drinks.

Kyrie lifted my leg and I could feel his hard dick on my thigh. Going with the flow, I held it up, giving him access. He pushed inside of me, while mumbling in my ear.

“I’ve been thinking about you all night.”

Kyrie pushed in and out of me at a slow pace. No cap, after the night I had I could use a release, even if it wasn’t from the person I was just dreaming about. I was into it at this point.

“Sss…Mmm…let me get on top.”

We switched positions. I straddled his lap and eased down on his dick, rolling my hips. My mind flashed to Jokah. The way he looked at me, held my hand and kissed it, made my panties wet. I was still mad at him, but after everything that happened tonight, my emotions were all over the place.

Ignoring how I was feeling, I closed my eyes and imagined that it was Jokah’s dick I was riding instead of Kyrie.

“Oh my God!” I moaned, as I rode him and rubbed my clit. “Fuck, Jo—” I caught myself before I could let it slip again.

My eyes flew open. What the hell is wrong with me? I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to push him out of my head, but the harder I tried, the clearer his face became. I didn't understand it. I'd only been on one date with the man. So why couldn't I stop thinking about him? I was lying beside my boyfriend, and another man was living rent-free in my head. That should've bothered me more than it did, but it didn’t.

Kyrie had his hands on my hips, matching my rhythm. “Damn bae, what’s gotten into you?”

He was asking the wrong question. The correct question was who had gotten into me. I searched for an answer I didn't have. Nor could I explain it. I only knew that pretending it hadn't happened was getting harder by the second. The thought scared me.

I spent three years building a life with Kyrie. So why did one night with another man have me questioning everything?

By the time I shook the thoughts from my mind, Kyrie’s fingers were working me right into an orgasm. My body started to tremble, and I could feel the tension finally breaking. As I came hard and long, I bit down on my lip and rolled my hips slowly until I was done.

When it was over, Kyrie pulled me against his chest the way he used to before things got complicated between us. As I started to drift back off into a deep sleep, he whispered against the back of my neck.

"I'm sorry for everything."

I stayed quiet.

A few seconds passed before he spoke again. "I know I ain't been right."

His voice sounded heavy, almost like he was finally saying the things he had been carrying around for months.

"I'ma do better."

I wanted to believe him. God knew I wanted to. But promises had become easier for Kyrie to make than they were to keep. I closed my eyes and let the silence answer for me.

Kyrie was still snoring when my alarm went off. He was dead to the world and that told me, the drinks from last night hadn't fully worn off yet. I reached over to grab my charger off his nightstand, and that's when his phone screen lit up beside him.

A text preview sat right there on the lock screen from a number he hadn't even bothered to save. I opened it and read it.
