Since the figurative trolls had found Zack’s number, he took out his secondary phone as he debated reaching out to his family again. He wasn’t just thinking about them. Seamus was a vampire older than any that Zack had heard of besides Nell. Though he was researching the best he could, he was certain that there was more information just out of reach. Would the silver truly work? Would the enchantment on his dagger be enough to dismantle Seamus? Quinn had been a quarter of Seamus’sage, and Zack had had to keep his dagger deep in his chest for seconds before he perished.

He told himself he didn’t care if the family didn’t message him back. He simply needed to try to gain that smidge of insight someone else might have. Anything might help them gain an upper hand, and they needed every advantage. Unfortunately, he’d only memorized a few phone numbers, and his journal with his hard copy directory was back at his parents’ house. But he knew his immediate family’s, the landlines for his grandparents, one aunt’s, and three cousins.

Rather than sending one to all the ones he could remember, he only sent a message to his father, his sister, his aunt, and his cousin Lacey. They were all long shots, especially Lacey since he hadn’t spoken to her in almost a year.

Somehow, checking his secondary phone and seeing no messages was worse than having a stream of notifications from Night Deets and the Fang app. He sat on the end of the bed and tried to will a message to pop up, but nothing happened.

Takashi stirred, and then Roger moved. Sunset was coming sooner and sooner every night. Zack hopped up from the bed and shoved his phone into a drawer. He was about to slam the drawer shut, but that might wake them faster. Carefully, he guided it closed and then crawled onto the bed.

Roger reached for him, so Zack slithered up between them, staying on top of the covers. When they first woke, Roger and Takashi were like ice. Hints of chilliness were all right, but he preferred a layer between them until they warmed up.

“Evening,” Roger murmured, his voice deep and husky.

“Hey there,” Zack said with a small smile. He kissed Roger, then turned to Takashi. “Hey to you, too.”

Takashi nuzzled him, pressing his lips to Zack’s neck. He brushed another kiss against his pulse.

Zack poked Takashi’s leg. “You’re awake, right?”

“I’m awake,” Takashi said, grogginess in his voice. “You smell like oranges.”

“My soap ran out. That’s the hotel’s.”

“I like it.” Takashi licked Zack’s neck. His tongue wasn’t as cold as his lips, and he didn’t have the same deep chill that clung to Roger. He lazily put an arm over Zack’s chest.

“It’s an interesting change from that woodsy stuff.” Roger slid an arm across Zack’s hips.

The Cal voice proclaimed,You’re stuck between two bloodsuckers, idiot. The rational voice, the one Zack liked and listened to more and more, was quiet, but a different one that was all his own mind whispered,This is so fucking hot.

“I’ll have to buy some, then,” Zack managed. His cheeks felt hot, and every breath reminded him of the weight of Takashi’s arm on him.

“Mmhmm,” Takashi moaned against Zack’s skin as he planted another kiss on his neck. He pressed closer and continued exploring Zack’s neck.

Roger absentmindedly teased the skin just above Zack’s pant line as he drew Zack’s earlobe between his lips.

Zack groaned. “If you two keep going?—”

“You might have a problem?” Roger palmed Zack’s dick through his jeans.

Zack arched into Roger’s touch. His shoulders were still pinned to the bed by Takashi. “Fuck, that’s not fair.”

“It’s not fair that you smell this fucking good,” Takashi whispered. He kissed behind Zack’s ear, then trailed his kisses down to the crook of his neck.

“He more than smells it. Touch him,” Roger murmured. He slid his hand under Zack’s shirt, pushing it up.

For a moment, Takashi seemed too enthralled to notice, but then he lifted his arm, and Roger was able to finish tugging Zack’s shirt off. Zack sank back onto the bed and gasped atTakashi’s cool touch against his warm skin. Roger was already toying with the button of Zack’s jeans and managed to pop them open. He kissed Zack’s cheek and his neck.

“So warm,” Takashi said against Zack’s neck.

“Delightful,” Roger said.

“I can’t tell if you’re hungry or horny,” Zack teased.

“Both,” Takashi whispered. He dragged his finger along Zack’s jaw, coaxing him to turn toward him.

They kissed, and Zack reached up to cup the back of Takashi’s head as they did. Their tongues slid forth and back, dancing between Takashi’s lips before parrying one another in Zack’s mouth. All the while, Roger kissed Zack’s shoulder and eased the zipper of his jeans downward. Breaking off the kiss, Zack panted, and his breath clouded the space with a hint of coffee. He nipped Takashi’s bottom lip and sucked on it a little as he ran his hands through Takashi’s hair.

Roger finally sprang Zack’s cock free of his jeans and underwear by tugging the material down. Zack groaned as Roger grasped him but only caressed the end of his length with slow circles of his thumb. When he tried to rock into Roger’s hand, Roger loosened his grip.
