“Can I have a soda?” I wrinkle my nose. Why did I just ask him for permission? He’s not a Daddy.
“That depends. Is it caffeine-free?”
“I have white soda.”
“Okay then, but just one. There’s still a ton of sugar, and you have to work tomorrow.”
“Work sucks,” I whine.
“I know, babe.” He pauses and swallows a bite of pizza before he continues. “If you could do anything you wanted, what would it be?”
I stop and think. No one has ever asked me that before. I was always going to be in finance, even though I hate math.
“I don’t know,” I admit.
“Come on, there must be something you want to do.”
“Not really.”
“What about when you were in high school? What was your favorite class?”
“I’ve always liked history, but art class was my favorite.”
“Okay, what medium did you like?”
“I liked doing things with my hands. We didn’t do much in school other than with clay.”
“Clay is so messy.” I can hear Leo grimace.
“Yeah.” I take a bite of pizza. “We went to a few specialty?—”
“Please don’t talk with your mouth full, babe.”
“Sorry.” I swallow. “In school we went to see a blacksmith and a glassblower. I made something small at each visit, but the glass piece I made is something I kept because the teacher said it was good and I had potential.”
“That’s exciting! Have you looked into it more?”
“I mean, I’ve always been intrigued by glass blowing, but that seems so inaccessible.”
“Maybe find a class nearby and see how you like it.”
“Find a class?” I’ve never thought about that. “Maybe once I get more settled into my new life.”
“I’m sure there are a few good artsy options around you. You moved into a trendy neighborhood.”
“I noticed, but that wasn’t my intent.”
“Then why did you choose it?”
“Close to work.” I shrug and take another bite. “This pizza is so good.”
“I’m glad you like it. Now stop making those sexy noises before I need to get my dick out.”
My eyes widen in surprise. “Don’t let me stop you.”
He laughs. “Not now. I’m eating this sub-par pizza.”
“Sub-par?”
