“Great, let’s have a pizza phone date.”

“A pizza phone date?”

“Yeah, I’ll order you a pizza and me a pizza, and we can eat it together over the phone.”

“I would prefer that we eat in person.” I pout.

“I know. As soon as I’m home, we’ll have a date.”

“Really!”Way to play it cool, Whit.

“Yes, I’d like to see you again. Now what would you like on your pizza?”

Normally I’m just cheese, but everyone teases me for being boring.

“Something with veggies?” I hedge.

Leo laughs. “You don’t want veggies. Tell me what you really want.”

“Fine, I like just plain cheese.”

“Awesome.”

My doorbell rings.

“Who could that be?” It can’t be the pizza already.

“You better go answer it. I’ll wait.”

When I check the door, there’s a pizza delivery person. “Here’s your pizza.” She hands it over happily.

“Oh, let me get you?—”

“No need. It’s all taken care of.”

“Okay, thanks.”

“Have a good night.” She leaves with a wave.

I take the pizza to my coffee table and sit back down before putting the phone on speaker.

“I’m back.”

“Good. I know you’re new to the area, so I ordered from one of my favorite places.”

“I’ve never been to Geno’s.”

“They’re a more casual grab-a-slice kinda place. It’s my dad and Izzy’s favorite.”

I open the box, and it smells amazing. When I look at the pizza, I notice that it’s just a plain cheese pizza.

“How did you know?”

“I’m good at reading people.” I reach into the box to grab a slice. “Now go grab a plate and napkin.”

“But it’s just me,” I whine.

“Fine, but at least get a napkin and a drink.”
