That last obstacle out of the way, Lily doesn’t waste time. Soon enough, her fiery core envelopes me when she lowers herself, taking in every freaking inch I have on offer. I’m thinking it can’t get any better when she re-seats herself, slamming home with a throaty moan.
And then she moves. Slowly at first, but soon gaining momentum. There isn’t a chance I can lie here like a dead man, rather I jerk my hips as best I can, matching her moves.
As stunning as the sensation of her silken core swallowing me again and again, is watching her curls as they tumble over her full breasts. Now and then, a taut nipple will make an appearance, begging me to tug on it.
The thing is, I don’t just want a glimpse; I want to see both perfect mounds. This has me flicking her hair to the sides, to cup her breasts and run my thumbs over those tight little nubs.
“Oh, yes, that!”
This time when she drops, Lily surges forward, her mons grinding into me, her breasts hard against my palms. It’s a move she keeps repeating until I can’t hold back any longer.
The next time she drops, my cock explodes, filling her with my seed and me with the longing to be a dad again. This is as much a surprise to me as Lily’s orgasm hitting a second later, her rippling muscles milking my length and emptying me to the last drop.
A moment later, she collapses on my chest, and my arms automatically wrap around her. I never want to let her go, even if that means Zoe is the only child I ever have.
Some things are more precious than procreation, and Lily is definitely one of those. It’s a thought that has me tightening my hold further, glorying in our shared heartbeat.
At peace for the first time since I lost Jade, I fall asleep, content to leave Lily right where she is. Where she belongs.

As the days’ progress, either Lily or I will find an excuse to head into town, although never right behind each other. While this doesn’t happen as often as we’d like, we make up for it over breakfast each weekday morning.
The only thing that niggles me is that she’s still treating it as something casual. We’re close, but it’s always as if there’s a barrier in the way of us getting closer still.
Maybe Lily has the right of it? With us technically not athingbecause of Ethan’s stupid rule, we have to be careful not to go public. I can’t afford to lose this job, not with Zoe about to start school, and the expenses that will entail.
The one thing helping us is the guys covering for me when Ethan is around. According to them, now that I have Lily in my life, I’m no longer a miserable bastard. It’s something that has me less of a dictator on site, although the work still gets done.
Now I’m just as likely to be found laughing with the guys as I am to be yelling at them to stop kidding about and get back to work. The other thing that’s progressing beautifully is the flip.
Despite my thinking the place was a dump, aired out and, with the rotten boards replaced, the old girl is shining. Lily had the right of it. The house has good bones.
And yet there’s something missing from my life. Despite my agreeing to Lily’s request that we keep things casual, I’m thinking I’m just wasting my time. If I keep it up, I risk being hurt as much as Zoe, who cares for Lily, as I do.
I won’t have my daughter’s emotions played with like that. My mom being the only mother figure she’s ever known, I’ll not upset that for any selfish needs of my own.
FOURTEEN
LILY
The morning starts like any other Friday since moving into the trailer. A gentle knock on the door and Tyler enters bearing sweet treats and much needed coffee.
While I consider myself a morning person, five o’clock isn’t morning in my world. I need that coffee, although I might need Tyler first?
It’s as well he’s the best at waking me, at having my body on fire for the day, and for him. I’d been relieved when he’d finally accepted my way of thinking that we continue to keep things casual.
Better this when I’ve still to receive my final payout from Mitchell. And not so soon after losing Nanna Dot. Despite craving some sense of stability in my life, that’s not to be. Not yet anyway. Maybe when I’ve finished the house and sold it?
Only then will I know where I stand financially. Only then will I have the head space to devote to a relationship. There’s also the minor issue of Tyler letting slip at the aquarium that he’d like another kid.
And, sadly, I can’t help him there.
Tyler puts the bakery bags and go-cups on the kitchenette counter. “I hope you’re hungry, sweetheart.” After this, he’s a blur, his clothes flying in all directions. I love that he’s so in touch with his body. That despite being in a hurry to strip, his movements are graceful for such a large guy.
He’s stretched out next to me before he speaks again. “What are you up to on Sunday?”
One hand already snaking down my body, it takes every ounce of concentration to answer. “Nothing at this stage.” This is unusual with him, often devoting an entire weekend to Zoe and her needs. We have seen little of each other at weekends since the ill-fated, albeit fun, trip to the aquarium.
