Chapter Six
Elijah was stepping out of the bedroomwhen the front door opened. He heard Sam’s voice first. She sounded excited, which could’ve been due to any number of things—her favorite artist releasing a new song, the neighbor finally weeding their garden, an upcoming sale on shoes. She got excited by a lot of things.
However, he had a strong feeling today’s excitement wasn’t over any of those. Based on the rasp in her tone, he had a fairly good idea of what had happened during the drive from the airport. Logan had told him before he left that he would be filling her in on what transpired between them over the weekend. Knowing Logan, the man had turned Sam’s inquisition into a give-and-take.
He wasn’t sure which of them he was more turned on by as he joined them in the living room. Sam’s glittering eyes and seductive smile or Logan’s mischievous wink and that cocky, smug smile. So much for the cold shower he’d just taken. He knew he should’ve jacked off while he was in there. It would’ve eased some of the strain that racked his body. He honestly couldn’t remember having been turned on this much for this long with nothing physically triggering the desire.
“Hey,” Sam chirped as she hurried toward him, her eyes glittering as she planted a kiss on his lips.
“Did you have fun?”
“I did. It was exhausting, but we enjoyed it. I can’t say I’m looking forward to going back for at least another year. It’ll probably take me that long to catch up on my sleep.”
She said that every year.
He kissed her once more, then released her before heading toward Logan to assist with the suitcases, taking them from the foyer to the bedroom while Sam disappeared into the bathroom.
“Is this more than she took with her?” Elijah asked, hefting one of the bags onto the bed so she could unpack when she was ready.
“I don’t know how she does it, but yeah,” Logan answered.
“Doesn’t she realize she has enough souvenirs?”
“I’ll let you be the one to make that suggestion.”
He wouldn’t be doing that. If Sam wanted to buy out all the tourist shops in Las Vegas, he would gladly walk her to each and every one.
“Did you tell her?” Elijah prompted.
Logan’s expression said,What do you think?
“And?”
His voice lowered to a thundering growl. “Based on the way she came on my dick, I’d say she liked the story.”
Elijah groaned. The cold shower had been a complete waste of time. He should’ve expected that vulgar explanation because that was Logan. He didn’t mince words, and he definitely didn’t hold back. Not to mention, if he could say something to spark a fire, Logan never missed an opportunity.
“I know this might make me sound old, but I could seriously use a nap after I unpack,” Sam said as she joined them in the bedroom, clearly oblivious to Elijah’s arousal. “Then I figured I could make us an early dinner.”
“Sounds perfect,” Elijah said, turning to face her. “It’ll give me some time to run a few errands.”
Sam’s eyebrows lowered. “Is everything all right?”
Elijah could feel Logan’s eyes on him, but he kept his gaze on Sam. “Perfect.”
She did not look convinced as she glanced between them.
“I’ve got to run by the grocery store,” he told her. “Is there something you need me to pick up?”
“Steaks and baked potatoes,” Logan stated, stepping up behind Sam. “I’ll cook tonight.” He leaned over her shoulder, pressed a kiss to her neck. “And you can do the dishes. Naked.”
She rolled her eyes, but there was a beaming smile on her face. “We’ll see about that.”
Unwilling to resist the opportunity, Elijah stepped up to Sam, effectively sandwiching her between them. “I’m glad you’re home.”
“Me, too,” she whispered as he leaned in to press his lips to hers.
He kept the kiss chaste before pressing another to her forehead. “Get some rest.”
