Epilogue
Friday, July 29, 2022
On Friday afternoon, Sam was sitting inher office, finishing up an email so she could call it a day. It had been a long week, and she was looking forward to the weekend, some time alone with Logan and Elijah, who’d both gone out of their way this week to return things to normal.
Well, mostly normal. She was still getting used to the fact that she’d caught them kissing on more than one occasion. Hot kisses. Mind-blowing kisses. Ones she found herself captivated by, watching when she didn’t think they were aware she was there. But they always seemed to know, and it pleased her that they weren’t trying to hide it.
Of course, it helped that she’d had to deal with good ol’ mother nature. For the past week, her period had put a damper on her sex life. But that was finally over, and now she could focus on getting Logan and Elijah to make up for the teasing they’d made her suffer.
A knock on the door had her glancing up.
Logan was standing in her doorway, looking as ridiculously hot as he always did in his bespoke suit and that beguiling smile.
“You about ready?”
She nodded, glanced back at the email, and hit send. “I am now.”
“Elijah’s waiting for us.”
“Are y’all taking me to dinner? Or to the club?”
Sam reached for her laptop but stopped when Logan said, “You won’t be needing that.”
She stood tall, stared at him as she slowly closed the laptop. “Why not?”
“It’s a surprise.” He gestured her toward him with a wave of his hand. “But if we want to make our flight, we need to leave now.”
Sam tried to process what little information he’d just relayed, despite his tone giving the impression he’d just gone into detail. “Where are—”
“Baby, quit wasting time.”
Spurred into action by his curt but amused tone, she opened her desk drawer, grabbed her purse, left her laptop locked in place, and asked again, “Where are we going?”
He chuckled. “I told you, it’s a surprise.”
“I don’t like surprises.”
Logan put his arm around her shoulder and guided her out of her office. “Yes, you do.”
Fine. She did. But that wasn’t the point.
“I need to pack. How will I know what to—”
“We packed for you,” he explained as he led the way down the stairs to the main doors.
“Well, at least tell me what you packed for me?”
He laughed. “Then you’d know where we’re going.”
Yes, that had been the point.
Sam huffed, ensuring he heard her frustration even as her belly churned with excitement.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the airport. The first surprise came in the form of an enormous plane that put all other private jets to shame. And the second was the arrival of so many people on the private landing strip.
Sam looked at Logan. “Please, please, pleasetell me we’re going to Sapphire Island.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “Never can keep it a secret for long with you. Happy birthday, baby.”
