The way he just throws that word around makes my cheeks blaze.
“So technically, you broke the table.”
“Blame the woman. Do you really think that’s a smart idea?”
He smooths his hand over his cheek. “Probably not, but I stand by my statement. Your pussy made me lose control. Maybe don’t have such an addicting pussy.”
“Do you realize how absurd you sound?”
“Yes, but please note, blood is still attempting to return to the rest of my body, so I might speak nonsense right now.”
“Uh-huh. Nice try. I need to clean up. Can you help me up?”
“Sure, yeah.” He helps me up and then offers me his shirt. I slip it on before I head to the downstairs bathroom that’s right off the kitchen. I spend a bit of time taking care of business and when I look in the mirror, my reflection shining back at me, I notice the bite marks that haven’t gone away, the redness of my skin from Theo’s scruff, and the satisfied grin on my face.
Ehh, I don’t know ifsatisfiedis the proper term.
It doesn’t feel like it fully encapsulates what I’m feeling when he’s around. Not even close. Not even sure there is a word for it.
Either way, staring back at the mirror, I don’t look like the same girl from a month ago.I look like someone with hope.
And it’s because of him.
I finish up in the bathroom and exit, only to find Theo sitting in a kitchen chair next to the broken table, looking far too handsome. His eyes travel up my legs, to my face, and with that one sexy look, I know for certain there is no chance in hell I’ll be getting any sleep tonight.
Arms crossed, a look of disappointment on his face, Rupert gestures to the broken kitchen table and says, “Really? On the surface where I enjoy my afternoon tea? Was that really necessary?”
Theo and I are standing side by side, him in a pair of shorts and me in my walking clothes. We decided to make it seem like I was coming back from my walk when I return home, in case Aunt Kitty has any questions. But before I could leave, Rupert pulled us to the side.
“It’s bad enough that I had to listen to ‘Oh God, Theo,’ and ‘Fuck this cunt,’ and ‘Fuck, I’m coming’ all night long.” Oh my God, he heard us? “But then you have to go and break the kitchen table? What if I walked in on you?”
“You were sleeping.”
“Trust me…I wasn’t. And those headphones you got me did jack shit.”
“Oh my God, Rupert, I’m so sorry.” I’m absolutely mortified.
“Don’t worry about it. Not the first time I’ve heard what that man’s crotch can do.”
“Can you not?” Theo asks as I glance over at him, my mind trailing off for a moment about how many women he could have possibly been with.
“Either way, I hope you realize you won’t be getting your security deposit back.” He gestures toward the table again. “This is a real renter’s offense. They might take legal action.”
“They’re not going to take legal action. Also, stop making a big deal about this. I’m trying to say farewell to Renley and thank her for an amazing night, and you’re ruining that with your dramatics.”
Rupert presses his hand to his chest. “Pardon me for being slightly dramatic because I didn’t get an ounce of sleep last night.”
“Jesus,” Theo mutters before taking my hand and leading me to the front door.
He presses me lightly against the wood as Rupert calls out, “Careful, you might fuck her right through that door with your insane thrusts. If you do that, creatures will be able to get into the house, and if that happens, my arse will be back on a plane to England faster than you can say, ‘This pussy was made for me.’”
“Don’t fucking tempt me,” Theo yells back and then brings his attention back to me. “Sorry about that.”
“Theo,” I whisper. “I’m mortified.”
“Why?”
“Uh, because your butler heard me. I was…I was quite loud last night because I was under the impression that he was asleep.”
