“No, I won’t.Well, not the way you’re probably thinking.Tell me.”

Her pink face turned red.“Oreos and Nilla wafers.”

“Solid choices.I approve.Anything salty or just sweets?”

She tilted her head to one side but kept her eyes on the road.“Barbeque potato chips.I don’t want them most of the time—I don’t even really like them. But sometimes in the car, even just on the ride into Bozeman, I crave barbeque chips.I don’t get it, but it is what it is.”

“Chips are good.I’m more into sour cream and onion myself but I do like a good barbeque chip. How about when you hit the gas station, I go inside and see what I can find?”

Jordon shook her head.“Nope.You’re not getting food at the gas station. It’s way too expensive. If we need to pick up snacks, I’ll hit the grocery store.”She glanced over at him then back to the road.“If the grocery store will put you over your hour for today, make me a list.I’ll run in and get whatever you want.”

Spider shook his head.“I can go in with you.I’m good.”What he didn’t say was that he wasn’t about to let her pay for it, and he knew if he didn’t go in, she’d just pay for everything. He was working on making her his, and this was just one of many ways he would take care of her.

Chapter Twenty-Four

Jordon pulled her Jeepup to the large metal gate, stopped and rolled down her window.A tall, slender kid that reminded her of Wyatt in that not quite finished way—though he looked older, maybe eighteen or nineteen—approached the Jeep.

“Oh,” he said when he reached the window and could see inside.“I didn’t know you were coming in today. It’s good to see you, Spider. You here to stay?”

“Just for the weekend. This is Jordon, she’s going to be staying with me.Can you let us in or is there a problem?”

“No problem.Give me just a sec, I need to hit the gate.”The kid headed back for the small shack and stepped inside.

The gate rolled open. When it had gone far enough to fit her Jeep, Jordon eased the vehicle through.

“That’s Hunter.He’s a prospect, like Dax.”

She nodded.“Where to?”

“Park outside the clubhouse.”He motioned to a big building that looked more like a warehouse than anything else.“Come on.I can’t wait for you to meet everyone.”He opened his door, then pulled his crutches out from where he’d stowed them behind the seats. She waited, knowing he needed to do this himself and that her trying to help him would only irritate him.

When he made it out of the vehicle, she closed the door and walked beside him to the door, stepping forward to pull it open for him.Spider’s growl made her frown and tilt her head.

“Is something wrong?”

“I don’t like you opening the door for me.It should be the other way around.”
