Jordon smiled.“Well, then, I guess that’s motivation for you to get healed and get good with a prosthetic. So you can open doors for me.”
“Cheeky woman.”He leaned over and kissed her.Nothing long or drawn out, just a quick peck on the lips, but it made her want to grab on and pull him closer. She wanted more than just that little touch. So much more.
He went inside and she followed, stopping right behind him as he stood a few feet inside the door, looking around.
“Is something wrong?”she whispered, hoping only he would hear.
“No, just letting my eyes adjust.Come on.I see Raven.”He moved through the room, weaving around the tables and only having a little difficulty with his crutches.Had he had to use them before? She knew from hearing Spider, Fletch, and Dax talking over the last few weeks that Raven was their president.Nervousness fluttered in her belly. What if Raven hated her? What if he said she wasn’t welcome?
In front of her, Spider stopped in front of a table. The man sitting there looked up, grinned and stood.Since Spider had said he saw Raven, and this man had that on one shoulder of his vest she assumed it was him.
“Spider, so good to see you.”Raven wrapped his arms around Spider and pulled him into a hug, a tight one from the looks of it.“Is this your girl? The one I’ve heard so much about?”
“Yeah, this is Jordon.”He turned, took her hand and pulled her closer.“Jordon, this is Raven—he’s my president. And this is Taylynn, his old lady.”He nodded to the small woman who stood beside him.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Taylynn said. She moved around to Raven’s other side then held her arms out.“Can I get a hug?You were gone too long.”
When Spider nodded, Taylynn moved in and gave him a gentle hug.
“You could have come up to see me,” Spider said.
“Have a seat.I know you’re limited on how much time you’re allowed on your foot right now.”He kicked a chair away from the table, giving Spider a place to sit.
“Thanks.”Spider eased himself into the chair, then reached around and pulled out another.“Have a seat, wildcat.”
Raven’s brows lifted but he didn’t say anything.
Jordon sat, then looked around the room. All the men wore vests like the one Raven wore, with their road names on the shoulder. The women she saw wore similar vests but theirs didn’t say anything on the front. She wasn’t sure about the back, because while she could see the backs of a couple of men, all the women were facing her.
“You heard from Dax or Fletch?Any idea how far behind me they are?”Spider asked.
“I have and about half an hour, why?”As Raven sat back down on the other side of the table, Taylynn resumed her seat beside him.
Spider took a deep breath.“First, you know I’m only back for a couple of days, right?I still have a lot of PT ahead of me.We’ll head back sometime Monday.By the way, is my room still waiting for me?”
“Yes, I know this is only for the weekend, that’s okay. While you’re here, we have some things to share, though I get the feeling we’re not the only ones?”Raven’s gaze shifted to Jordon, making her want to fidget in her seat, but she forced herself to sit still, then back to Spider.
“Yeah,” Spider reached over and took her hand.“I’m going to need a property cut.But it’s not just that.Jordon and I are planning a trip, a big one.And we want to invite anyone who wants to ride along to come.”
Raven’s brows shot up, and they stayed that way for several seconds.“The cut is no problem, but I’d like to get to know her a little, make sure she’ll be able to fit in.”He held up his hand to stop the protest as Spider started to speak.“I’m not saying she can’t have one if she doesn’t fit, just that I’d like to know going in.But let’s talk a little more about this trip.”
“You know I’ve always wanted to ride to Alaska, right?”
“Yeah, you’ve not kept that a secret.I didn’t think you’d be doing that soon, though.”
“If I was insisting on doing it on my bike, I wouldn’t be.I’m not sure I’ll ever be up to the kind of riding a trip like that would take on any bike.”Spider turned and stared into the distance for a moment before turning back to his president.“I’m going to get back on my bike. But I’m also going to have to accept that I’ll have some limitations.I’m pretty sure all-day rides for weeks on end is going to be one of them. But Jordon suggested an alternative and that doing it soon would help with motivation.”He reached over and covered her hand with his, squeezing to show her how much he appreciated her.
“So tell me what you’re going to do.”
Spider explained about the trailer and the trip, ending with, “I was thinking that we’d invite any of the Angels who want to make the trip along. There won’t be room in the trailer for more than the two of us.From my understanding, the interior is little more than a bed, but there is an outdoor kitchen attached that could be used for everyone. If some of the brothers come along, they’ll be responsible for their own bedrolls and they’ll probably want someone along with a truck for extra gear, food, that kind of thing.”
“I like it.I’ll talk to everyone and see who wants to go.We’ll figure out the logistics and who and what we’ll need to send.”
Jordon frowned. What did he mean? What kind of thing was he talking about? She didn’t say anything but decided she would wait and save up her questions to ask Spider later, when it was just the two of them.
