What the hell? One minute he was threatening to walk away from our deal and now he’s trying to flirt with me? Who the fuck is this asshole?

Once his meetingwas over with Brooks, Quintus headed straight for Scott’s office.
“Quintus, what are you doing here?”
“Hey, Marlow. Is Scott here?”
“Yeah, he's in his office sulking. He stormed in here about one hour ago and told me to cancel all of his appointments. I think he and his mate…" Marlow's words slowed to a stop as he stared at Quintus and then he gasped clutching his neck. "You and Scott?" He looked from Quintus to the closed door and back. "What did he do?”
“How easily you take his side.”
They both jumped when they heard Scott’s growl. They turned and looked at the angry vampire glaring holes into Quintus.
“Marlow, do you mind giving Scott and me some privacy?”
“You know what? I’m going to call it a day.” He walked behind his desk and got his messenger bag before dashing out of the door.
“So, it’s okay for you to tell my employee what to do, but I can’t tell you what to do with your business. Hypocritical much?”
“What the fuck is your problem? I knew you were the jealous type. But what happened in the restaurant today was uncalled for.”
“This has nothing to do with jealousy,” Scott snapped.
“Yeah, then what? Tell me so I can rationalize what the fuck happened. I know it's a drop in the bucket for you, but you almost cost Wolfe Construction a multi-million-dollar deal. Money I could use to pay my guys, so they and their families don't need to fucking struggle. Not everything is about you, Scott."
Scott looked away from him, not saying a word. Quintus scoffed and shook his head. "I know you're hiding something from me. And I know Brooks was lying when he said he doesn't know you. So, tell me what's your relationship with him. Did you sleep with him?”
“No,” Scott answered quickly.
“Then what?”
“It’s complicated.”
“Complicated,” Quintus said. “Is it about your dead lover? Did he and Brooks ever sleep together?”
“How dare you, Quintus!” Scott growled. “You don’t know the man I used to love. Alec was a lot of things, but he never fucking cheated on me.”
“So, he was a fucking saint? He always did what you wanted? How many times have you compared me to him, Scott?”
“Never," Scott shouted. "I've never compared you to Alec. You're both different in so many ways. And why the fuck are we talking about him? He has nothing to do with this.”
“Somebody had to talk about him, because you won't. I see the look in your eyes sometimes— you wish he was still alive. His ghost hangs between us and as much as I…" Quintus stopped himself from continuing with his confession. "As much as I care about you, I can't keep living with a shadow of a man who is no longer around. So, when you're ready to be with me, come and find me.”
Quintus turned and walked out of Scott's office. Tears clouded his vision, and his heart felt as if it was breaking in two. He had no idea why they were fighting, but what hurt more was that Scott didn't try to stop him from leaving.

“Fuck!”Scott slammed the door to his office and stormed over to desk, plopping down in his chair.
What the fuck just happened?
Scott had been boiling with anger, since he’d seen Loki with Quintus. Truthfully, he hadn’t been furious with his mate until Quintus refused to follow him out of the restaurant. He blamed himself for not telling Quintus about his family and it was coming back to bite him in the ass.
Does he really think I compare him to Alec? Fuck, where did he get that idea from?
“Want to tell me why you let him walk away?”
