“What did Marlow say?”

“Is what he said that important to you?”

“Yes, actually. I need to know what to butter him up with when I need a favor.”

Scott sighed. “He wanted to know why I was taking time off. I told him I needed a vacation. I doubt he believed me, but he agreed to have doctor Wilton oversee my patients for me until I get back.”

“You are always thinking of the future,” Quintus said looking up at his mate. “Have I ever told you that I find that attractive?”

“I’m learning new things about you every day, Mister Wolfe.”

“I have to keep your eyes on me always.”

Scott smiled. “Since the day you dry humped me, I’ve not taken my eyes off you.”

“Did you have to bring that up?” Quintus could feel his face heating up.

“I promise not to bring up again for another couple of years.”

“Good,” Quintus said.

“Open the box on the table.”

“What box?” Quintus asked, looking around Scott and noticed the red velvet, long bracelet box sitting on the table that wasn’t there before.

Gleefully, Quintus pushed Scott out of the way and reached for the box.

“Damn, I got kicked to the curb that quickly,” he said chuckling.

Quintus pulled off the bow, took off the cover, and looked at his gift a bit disappointedly. He was expecting a collar not neatly folded paper.Scott really needs to work on his gift-giving techniques. Setting the box on the table, he picked up the paper realizing it was thicker than he initially thought. Unfolding the papers, his heart started pounding in his chest when he saw that it was a BDSM contract.

“Holy shit, this is a contract between us for a Dom/sub relationship?”

“I guess I don’t need to work on my gift giving techniques?” Scott said, quirking a brow.

“Shit, you heard that?”

“Yeah.” Scott chuckled. “Don’t worry, I know it’s new. It’s going to take us some time to learn how to close our thoughts off from each other.”

“Wait, why does it say Dracul? That reminds me, that’s the same name that was on your paperwork. It’s why I didn’t recognize it the day I showed up at your house. I thought your last name was Shelton.”

“My legal name is Dracul. I am the grandson of Vladimir Dracul the third.”

Quintus stared at Scott for a few seconds, not believing his ears. “Did you just say that you are the grandson of the oldest and possibly first vampire in existence?”

“Please, don’t remind him of his age when you meet him. He gets pretty touchy about that, even though he doesn’t look a day over one hundred.”

“Wow, that means your family is powerful,” Quintus commented.

“You have no idea,” he heard Scott whisper under his breath. “Let’s not talk about my family, please. You’ll get sick of them soon enough, trust me.”

“Okay,” Quintus said looking at the contract in his hands. “So how do we do this?”

“We’ll go through all the pages, talk things through. Yes, more talking. And if we aren’t tired of talking, we’ll sign the contracts and move on to the next phase.”

Quintus got up and ran into Scott’s bedroom, searching for his cellphone. Once he found it, he called his assistant telling her he was taking two weeks off, effective immediately. He knew she was surprised that he was taking time off when they were quite busy. But Dina also agreed that that Quintus never took time out for himself and would hold down the fort until he got back.

I should give her a raise when I get back.
