“Attacked! By who?”
“We don’t know,” Alphonso said sadly.
“Why would anyone want to attack me? I don’t know that many people in town.” Sirius cracked his brain trying to figure out who he’d pissed off in the short time he’d been in town. “How did you find me?”
“I didn’t, one of the nurses who was leaving found your body tucked in a corner. She called my uncle who called me and here we are.”
“What the hell?” Sirius said. “Things aren’t adding up.”
“No, they aren’t, but we’ll figure it out,” Alphonso assured him. “For now, I’m just glad I get to hold you.”
“What a way to spend our first Valentine’s? Now it’s over.”
“Who says it’s over? The moon is still red, and we are here together that’s all that matters.”
“I know but, I had plans for us after the party.”
“How about this? Let’s postpone it for later.”
“At least let me give you the gift I got you.”
“You’re not going to relax until you give it to me, are you?”
“Not really.”
He looked down, and Alphonso placed a finger under his chin and raised his face to look in his face.
“Tell me, why are you so adamant that I get your gift now?”
“It’s the first time I’ve had a lover to call my own on Valentine’s Day. I wanted this day to be special for both of us.”
“Okay, where is it?’ Alphonso asked after a few seconds.
“It should be in my coat pocket,” Sirius said getting off Alphonso’s lap.
He watched as his mate got the present and opened it then smiled. Sirius was a bit nervous hoping he’d hadn’t gone overboard on the gift. He’d seen the jade diamond cufflinks with a matching tie clip in the jewelry store and knew that Alphonso had to have it.
“How did you know this is what I wanted?” Alphonso asked.
“I don’t know I saw it and thought it would be perfect for you,” Sirius said with a shoulder shrug.
Alphonso walked over to him and cupped his cheeks. “I love it, thank you.”
Sirius hummed when their lips met and wished they weren’t in the hospital. He desperately wanted to feel his mate taking him to new sexual heights.
“Promise me something,” Sirius whispered against his mate’s sweet mouth.
“Anything.”
“Promise that when I get out of here that you will fuck me until I can’t walk.”
“That is a promise I will absolutely keep.”

Alphonso watched Sirius as slept, thankful that his mate was all right. Once he’d gotten to the hospital, he hadn’t released the breath he had been holding until he’d seen Sirius. Once he’d spoken to the doctor who told him that Sirius and their baby was going to fine, he turned his attention to his uncle.
“What can you tell me, Uncle LaMarkus?”
