Chapter Fourteen

Sirius

Sirius grimaced as he slowly opened his eyes wondering where the hell he was.

The last thing he remembered was leaving the hospital for the masquerade party. Movement out of the corner of his eyes had him turning his head, and that was when he noticed that he was in the hospital. His heart melted when he saw Alphonso sleeping on the sofa not far from the bed.

What the hell am I doing in the hospital? Oh gods, did I lose the baby? I can’t lose our baby, not yet. Not when I was getting used to the idea of being pregnant and bringing our child into the world.Tears welled in his eyes as he realized that he wanted the child he was carrying. He covered his mouth hoping to silence his crying.

“Hey, you’re up,” Alphonso said getting his attention.

His looked at his mate who was moving closer to him.Does he hate me? Oh gods, what if he doesn’t want me anymore?

“I’m sorry,” Sirius said when Alphonso sat on the edge of his bed.

“What are you sorry for?”

“I lost our baby.” He cried.

Alphonso’s brows creased together. “You didn’t lose the baby.” He rested a hand on Sirius’ flat stomach. “Our little one is safely growing inside of you.”

“I didn’t lose the baby?” He asked in shock.

“No,” Alphonso answered.

“Oh, thank the gods.” He threw his arms around Alphonso’s neck and sobbed in his chest with relief. “I don’t know what I would have done if I miscarried our child.”

Alphonso pulled him onto his lap holding close and kissed the crown of his head. “We would mourn our loss, and when we’re ready, we would have tried again.”

Sirius nodded believing his mate’s words.

“I know this might be too early to say, but tonight made me realize I cannot let a day go by without telling you what I’m feeling.”

Sirius opened his eyes and looked up at his mate. “What is it?”

Alphonso cupped his upturned cheek. “I love you, Sirius.”

“It’s not too early, because I love you too.”

He gasped when Alphonso claimed his lips, kissing what life he had left in him.How can I not love a man like Alphonso?Since the day they met the man had filled him with so much joy, he knew that he was in love with Alphonso and planned on telling him at the party. They slowly separated from their kiss, and he opened his eyes smiling seeing the smirk on his mate’s lips.

“Say it again,” Alphonso whispered.

“I love you.”

Alphonso brought one of Sirius’ hand to his lips kissing his palms. “I love hearing you say that.”

“Get used to it, I plan on saying it often.”

“Trust me I will never get tired of hearing it.”

He snuggled in feeling content when he sat up quickly remembering where he was. “Why am I in the hospital?”

“What do you remember?”

“After the ritual, I came back to the hospital to get your gift and get dressed I was heading to my car, and then I woke up here. Do you know what happened?”

Alphonso sighed. “You were attacked.”
