“Nothing, I spoke to the nurse who found him, she didn’t see anything. I spoke to security and checked the video feeds and nothing. Whoever attacked him knew exactly where the cameras were and how to avoid them.”

“Fuck, this isn’t good.”

“No, it’s not. I’m at a fucking loss here. Who would want to hurt Sirius?”

“I don’t know like I said he just got to town.”

“Then this is going to make it hard to figure out what happened.”

“Maybe Sirius saw who it was,” Alphonso said.

“Maybe, all we can do is wait for him to wake up.” His uncle sighed and shook his head. “Hey, I need to go and make a phone call why don’t you go and sit with your mate. I’ll tell your grandmother and Chance about what’s going on.”

“Shit, I forgot all about Bedwyr.”

“Don’t worry about it, that’s what I’m here for. You go and sit with him. I’m going to check with my guys to see if they found anything after I call your grandmother and Bedwyr.”

Alphonso nodded. “Thanks, Uncle LaMarkus.”

“We’re family, no thanks needed.”

Alphonso looked up when the door opened, and doctor Evans walked in. “How’s he doing? Has he woken up?”

“Yeah. Sorry, I knew I was supposed to call you, but we needed to talk.”

“I’m awake.”

Both Alphonso and doctor Evans turned and looked at Sirius who had his eyes open.

“How are you feeling?” Evans asked, Sirius.

“I’m a bit sore, but I’m okay.”

Evans nodded and walked to the other side of the bed and checked Sirius out.

“When can I take him home?”

“Tomorrow,” Evans answered.

“Why can’t I go home tonight? Is there something wrong and you’re not telling me?” Sirius narrowed his eyes at his colleague, and Alphonso held back his chuckle watching them.

Evans chuckled. “Gods you’re suspicious. But no there is nothing wrong, I just want to keep you here for observation. You’ll be free to break out of here in the morning.”

“Fine,” Sirius said begrudgingly.

“There’s another reason why I came in here,” Evans said.

“And here I thought you cared about me,” Sirius teased.

“Gods, you’re a pain in the ass.” Evans smiled. “There’s a crowd of people here to see you.”

Alphonso looked down at his watch. “Isn’t it past visiting hours?”

“And that’s supposed to mean something? I’ve learned to never argue with you Vales.”

“Oh,” was all Alphonso could say.

“And um…which one of you are friends with Jacqui’s Steele?”
