“I am, I think I needed to come back to Vale Valley for myself. Finding Sirius was just a bonus.”

“Hold on to that feeling it will carry you through the rough times and believe me. There will be rough times.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

“I love you, son.”

“You too, Dad.”

They hung up, and Alphonso sat back in his chair, now that he knew the truth behind what happened between his grandmother and father, he needed to find a way to fix things. He was a top-notch lawyer and fixed every problem his clients had so getting his family together should be a breeze.

Right?

Bringing up Cristyn’s name, he waited for her to answer.

“Took you long enough to call me.”

He smiled knowing it was her way of saying she was a bit worried about him. “How do you feel about visiting Vale Valley?”

“Don’t tell me you’re moving back?”

“I found my mate,” he told her.

“Oh, my gods, are you for real?”

“Yup, and before you ask, Tamia loves him.”

“Well, I guess I need to get my ass to Vale Valley pronto. So, tell me about him or her.”

“His name is Sirius, and I gotta tell you, I think I’m falling in love.”

“It’s about damn time.”

“I agree.”

“Your office is across from mine,”Calista told him as they walked down the hall. “I know you might need time to get acclimated to the layout of the hospital, but you have your first patient in about thirty minutes. I’ve asked Doctor Evans to transfer all of his shifter patients over to you slowly.”

“I hope he doesn’t feel bad about me coming in and taking over his patients.”

“Trust me, Evans is grateful that you came along. Although he’s been doing a great job, he definitely felt overwhelmed. And besides, this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, you and Doctor Evans will be sharing the responsibility of all our pregnant patients. But now our shifters can feel comfortable with a doctor who better understands their physiology.”

“That’s good. I just didn’t want him to think I’m coming in and taking over.” That had been on Sirius’ mind since he was told about the new position. The thought wasn’t lost on him that he should try to develop a working relationship with Doctor Evans.

“Don’t worry about things so much. You guys will work out fine. In fact, I’m sure you two will get along.”

“That’s good to know,” Sirius told her.

“You’re a good egg, Sirius and I have high hopes for you.”

“Really? Are you going to discuss these hopes with me?”

“All in good time, my young witch. For now, get used to your new position.”

Sirius stared at her wondering what she could be up to.

“Stop trying to figure out what I’m up to.”
