“Yeah, not buying it. I’m a profiler, remember,” Tucker said to him.
I was thinking how big your dick is, when I have no idea why I am.“Just wondering if you had enough hot water?”
Tucker looked at him as if searching for the truth. “It was great,” he said not calling Lucas out on his lie. “I might move in just for the shower.” He smiled, and Lucas chuckled.
“You’re always welcome,” Lucas said truthfully.
“So what are we doing today, since you both decided to take over my day?”
“Hm . . . I was thinking we could take Zoi to the park, maybe see a movie before you have to head back to your hotel. What do you think? You up for watching a movie with a bunch of kids hopped up on too much sugar they can’t sit straight?”
“The park yes, the movie is debatable,” Tucker answered. “Let’s just play the day by ear, how does that sound?”
“Sounds good actually.” And it did, Lucas was pretty sure Zoi didn’t care what they did as long as she’d get to have fun.
After they ate, he and Tucker cleaned up the kitchen before they went out to have fun. They took Zoi to the park, and instead of a movie, they took her to a kid fun zone where she pretty much ran around and wore herself out. Lucas also noticed certain looks that Tucker was getting from both men and women, and he couldn’t understand why he felt a bit jealous. It wasn’t that he didn’t get the same appreciative glances, but it irritated him when some blatantly stared at Tucker with him standing here.
“I had fun today,” Tucker said in the passenger seat beside him. “Thanks for this.”
“You’re welcome.” Lucas pulled into his driveway and killed the engine on his car. “You can always come and hang out with us whenever you want to.”
“I just might,” Tucker said as he looked in the back seat at Zoi who was sleeping from her day.
Tucker turned and looked back at Lucas, as for a split second, something in his eyes caught him off guard and then it was gone. They stared at each other for a few seconds too long before Tucker spoke. “Do you need help getting her inside?”
“Nah, I got it,” he answered.
Tucker nodded and reached for the door handle. “Good night,” he whispered, but he didn’t leave right away. They stared at each other before Tucker finally opened the door, got out, and walked to his car.
“Night,” Lucas mumbled and watched as Tucker drove off. Lucas couldn’t help feeling that something else should have happened or been said to keep Tucker from leaving.
* * *
What the fuck was that, dummy?he asked himself. “You wanted to kiss him,” he said out loud that time.
Tucker had never really thought about being with a man, but he also wasn’t disgusted with the idea either. Rochelle was the only person he’d ever been with sexually other than his own hand. Tucker never liked the idea of sleeping around, but he’d never judge someone if they did. He was a commitment guy.
Even as a kid he wanted to get married and have kids, which was what he had with Rochelle before she was taken away from him. Tucker hadn’t so much as looked at or thought about being with someone else other than Rochelle, but today after noticing the cute blush that crossed Lucas’ face he realized that he wanted to see it again and at many times, mainly while I’m fucking him. Tucker jerked the steering wheel at the thought, pulled off to the side of the road and turned on his hazard lights hoping to get back his bearings.
Where the hell did that come from?
Tucker remembered the spark of jealousy he felt when a few of the men and women were blatantly staring at Lucas. He felt like growling at a few of them and had to hold onto his emotions when he realized what was happening. But he couldn’t blame them for looking, Lucas was good-looking with his green eyes and his wild jet-black curly hair he hadn’t tamed earlier.
Add that to his slightly muscular swimmer's body that most male models would die for. He’d never been attracted to a man before but had no problem admitting when a male was good-looking. And Lucas was more than just good-looking, he was fucking gorgeous. Tucker leaned forward and rested his forehead on the steering wheel.
“Fuck, I’m attracted to him.”
Tucker was sure that Lucas hadn’t noticed his attraction. He leaned back, rested his head on the back of the seat and closed his eyes. He thought back to the past few hours and wondered if he had acted out of his character to give away his attraction and nothing came back to him. Other than him wanting to lean forward and kiss Lucas, he acted completely normal. He opened his eyes and watched as traffic zoomed by him. The question was, should he ignore his attraction or do something about it?
Chances were Lucas would laugh it off and say he was horny for not having sex with another person since his wife died, which could be the case. Or he could end their friendship when it was just getting started by saying something. Without thinking much further, Tucker knew what he was going to do. It was better to keep quiet. Other than his attraction to Lucas, he genuinely liked being around him, and Zoi had wholly won him over. Sighing, he switched off the hazard lights and slowly pulled back onto the highway. As fun and relaxing as the weekend was, he had a life to get back to.
The next month was extremely busy for Tucker; his department was busy with their new cases, and he was still coordinating with the New York branch for their training sessions and was getting ready to go back there for another week to finalize everything. The training session wasn’t for another five months or so, but some things needed to be done before then. Tucker’s cell phone vibrated on his hip telling him that he had a message. He pulled it from his hip and smiled when he saw Lucas’ name. Over the past four weeks, they’d been texting each other back and forth.
They’d even talked on the phone for hours, as well. They agreed and disagreed on every subject ranging from politics to religion. Tucker had opened up about him and Rochelle and how her death affected him. He’d kept the part about talking to her ghost to himself not wanting to sound crazy.
Lucas was enlightening to talk to, and Tucker found his attraction to the man growing stronger. He opened the message and smiled whenhe saw the cat sitting on a chair with bars, its paws were hanging over them, and the poor thing was looking back at him with a message that said, "I’m bored, do something funny to entertain me."
Tucker:Shouldn’t you be in meetings trying to take over the world or something?”
