Breathless, she said, “I need to cool off! I’m all sweaty.”
When he caught up with her, she was hanging her head between her knees, gasping for air. Her face was red, and beads of sweat had gathered around her forehead, sticking strands of hair to her skin. A hot, sexy mess.
“You’re quick,” he said, catching his breath. He dumped her bag on the ground then pushed the pump down so she could drink with both hands and splash her face with cold water. He did the same then gazed down at her. “Don’t cool off too much. I haven’t finished with you yet.”
She choked out a laugh. “I thought cavemen were extinct.” But as she stretched out her legs, her gaze dipped up and down his body, like she was already stripping him naked.
He returned the look—because he really did want to strip her naked—and reached out his hand for her.
“Best way to cool off is to take your clothes off,” he suggested. “It’s a scientific fact.”
“I can’t argue with science.” She slipped her fingers into his, and then she screamed with laughter as he picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. “You really are a caveman!”
She had a point, so he grunted and snatched up her bag with his free hand then carried her back to his tent.

Oh, my! She’d diedand gone to heaven.
That was the only explanation for this free and flowing sensation heating her up inside and out. Weightless and untethered.
Shane raised his head from between her thighs and came to lie on top of her. “You liked that?”
“Very much. Couldn’t you tell?”
Chuckling softly, he kissed her between her breasts, and she enjoyed the way his appreciative gaze lingered on them afterwards. In fact, Krista was enjoying everything about Shane. His hands on her body, his mouth. The solid thrust of his hips, his broad shoulders. The mound of his thick biceps next to her face as he lay on top of her. Cocooned by his body, she could feel his strength. He was built for power and speed, and yet he was surprisingly gentle and often maddeningly slow—like a few minutes ago, when she’d been desperate for release and he’d continued to tease her with his tongue.
Though it served her right. She’d teased him plenty when they’d first gotten back to the tent. Shane had shed his clothes immediately, but she’d taken her sweet time undressing. It had been fun to watch the anticipation in his eyes, how he’d struggled to steady his breathing. This big, super-fit, super-strong Olympian, undone by her?
She’dneverhad that effect on Eric—or any other guy she’d dated—and definitely not Ryan. But Shane had literally carried her to his bed, wanting her again.
Was he like this with every woman?
And was every woman like this with him?
One woman is the same as any other...
Did he still think that? About her, too?
And what about the woman he’d almost married? Whoever she was must’ve been special to him. Or maybe not. Yesterday, when he’d mentioned his wedding had been called off, he’d seemed more annoyed about being called a Nearly Man than anything else.
“What’s up?” he asked. “You’re quiet.”
“I was just think—”
“No thinking.” He pressed his finger to her lips. “We’re on holiday. Ice cream for breakfast, remember?”
“You’re right.”Don’t ruin it with talk of ex-girlfriends, Krista. This is the hottest sex you’ve ever had, and you’ve got it for three more days.“So, speaking of breakfast, that was a long time ago now. You hungry?”
“Starving.” Shane fumbled for his wristwatch, which he’d discarded at some point during their lovemaking, and read out the time. “It’s two o’clock. We forgot to have lunch.”
“Time flies when you’re having fun, eh?”
He leaned over and kissed her. “You are having fun, aren’t you?”
“Absolutely.” She kissed him back, swiping away all thoughts of his past women and her measly number of past men.
For the next three days at least, there were only two people in thisthingthey’d started. Athingshe wasn’t going to try to figure out. Doing so felt too much like hard work, and keeping ahold of this floaty feeling she got after every orgasm with Shane was much more preferable. Lifting and raising her out of her normal life, this sexual trance was intoxicating. Addictive. And the weirdest thing? Now she could understand Mom’s and Lisa’s view of casual relationships. Not thinking about Happy Ever After and just enjoying the moment was a lot of fun.
