And fun was exactly what she’d promised to have on this vacation.
“Let’s eat,” she said. “You cook. You’re better at it than me.”
“Demanding woman.” Shane pulled on his pants. “I’ll make something quick, and then let’s head out to those hot springs for a shower and a soak in the pool. There’s a restaurant nearby too. We can have dinner afterwards. I looked up the menu the other day, and they serve Portobello mushroom burgers.”
“Giddy up!” Krista fumbled for her clothes. “This is turning out to be the best vacation ever.”
He grinned. “Because of the mushroom burgers?”
“Of course. What else?” She kept a straight face, which wiped the smug grin off his.
“What else, huh?” He ran his gaze over her still naked body. “How about the side order of hot sex we’re having?”
“Yeah, that ain’t bad either.” She reached out and squeezed his butt, showing him he was more than a side order. He was very much the main course.
And she wanted many more helpings.
Chapter 17
The drive out to MietteHot Springs in Jasper took them back up the Icefields Parkway. As Shane cruised along the same stretch of road he’d biked down the other day, he couldn’t help but wonder about the little tricks and spins life sometimes dished out.
Three days ago, riding on a razor-sharp seat alongside Mikey and dozens of other athletes, Shane hadn’t even expected to talk to Krista Gervais, let alone get into bed with her. And now she’d ignited this craving inside him, and all he could think about was to keep getting into bed with her, to kiss her and hold her and play with her delightful body. Would he get it—her—out of system by Sunday morning?
“I am desperate for a hot shower,” Krista drawled beside him. “I feel so dirty.”
“I like my women filthy,” he said, making her roll her eyes at him. She knew he was full of shit about most things, but could she see though the player image he’d created for himself? Casual hookups had never been his thing. He’d only started that wholeHey look at me and how perfect my life iscrap on social media to show his friends and family he was back to being good ol’ Shane. He should really drop it now because he’d been his old self for a while—albeit a more cautious, bitter version—but he was doing okay.
His new life plan made sure of it.
But how did Krista fit in with that?
Earlier, he’d stopped Krista from thinking—from asking the questions he didn’t, as yet, have answers to. Questions that would burst this steamy little bubble they were currently floating away in. Maybe he should listen to his own words and stop thinking too.
“Well, here we are,” he said, clocking the first sign to the hot springs. A few minutes later, he parked the car then took off his wristwatch.
“You stripping already?” Krista asked, a naughty glint in her eye.
