My lips part in surprise. I don’t think I’ve been rendered speechless in years.

“Are you sure, My Lord? I don’t want to impose.”

“I’m sure. Now go. Get your mate. And Bane.” he says. “Stick to your own list of souls. I don’t want any more complaints."

“Of course, My Lord. You have my word.”

He snaps his fingers and the next thing I know, I’m standing in the middle of the graveyard. The same one I stumbled upon on Onyx.

A slow, sinister smile curves onto my lips. I mean, if the king of Hell himself gave me instructions to do so, who am I to question him.

“I hope you enjoyed your borrowed time, my Little Human.” I chuckle to myself. “It’s time to come home now. Where you belong.”

The more Ifollow my little human, the more enticing he becomes. He’s this little ray of a storm cloud with a hint of sun trying to peak out.

He’s dressed in black ripped jeans with chains hanging from it with a black hoodie pulled up over his head.

I could have easily slipped into his room while he slept and snatched his soul from his body, but where would the fun in that be?

There’s no part of me that feels bad about going back on my deal. I feel like it was null and void the moment I found out he was mine.

Fated mates trump everything, does it not?

Certainly he will come to understand that.

Am I afraid he will hate me when he finds out what I’m planning on doing? No. Because I have no intentions of him finding out.

Onyx’s death is going to be an accident. An accident I cause, but an accident nevertheless.

I said I’d take away his cancer. I did. I kept up my end of the deal.

People die due to freak accidents all the time. It’s just fate giving it the little push towards his demise.

He’s making this too easy really. It’s almost like he wants to die.

His head is down, music blasting in his ears, unaware of his surroundings. Anything could happen to him. Getting hit by a car, kidnapped, shot. The list is endless.

A surge of protectiveness hits me at the thought of my little human getting hurt.

I chuckle to myself at the irony.

Cars whiz by, people pass him on the street and he’s ignorant to it all, in his own little world. Does he think because of our deal it makes him invincible? I can assure you, it doesn’t. At least not on Earth. In Hell however, he will never die. I won’t let him. He’s mine, now and forever.

Onyx has no idea what he got himself into by paying that cemetery a visit that night. But he’s about to get a big dose of reality.

Casting a glance up, I grin when I see a heavy branch arching over the sidewalk. It sways with the breeze, creaking as it holds on.

The city should be blamed. It’s a hazard. It’s one strong breeze from falling. It would be a shame if someone was to walk under it just as it happened to detach itself from the tree.

With a slow menacing grin, I wait for just the right second. Onyx takes a few steps forward, and as soon as he’s under the branch, I lift my hand and flick my wrist.

My shadows rise within me, shooting forward and heading right for the branch. A loud crack rings through the air and my smile grows as it starts for the ground.

“Watch out!” someone shouts and I growl in anger as a man crashes his body into Onyx, forcing him to the ground and out of the way of the falling branch just in time

“You have got to be fucking kidding me.” A growl rumbles inside me.

“Oh my god,” Onyx gasps. “What the fuck?”
