I looked up at him and nodded.
“Man, she’s fucking hot. If her tits and ass were bigger, she’d be perfect.” He got a serious look on his face. “But I wouldn’t be a friend if I didn’t warn you about her. She’s… trouble. Like, real trouble. Something’s not quite right about her.”
I frowned. “What do you mean?”
“She enjoys messing up people’s lives. She sleeps with guys long enough to cause a breakup and all kinds of drama with whoever their girlfriend is. Then she dumps the guy and moveson to someone else. It’s like she only cares that the guy chose her over his girlfriend.”
“Are you speaking from experience?”
His eyes shot to mine. “Nah. I’ve just seen it happen. You know I don’t ever get serious with girls.”
I had the feeling he was keeping something from me, but I didn’t push. It was already unusual that he wasn’t joking around. The only time I’d ever seen him serious was about football.
“Anyway,” he said standing up and putting the strap of his duffel over his shoulder, “just be careful. What Marcus said? He’s right. Your girl Sadie is someone to hold onto.”
I stared at him. “Thanks, man.” He never gave advice like that.
He grinned. “But Aubrey? She’s good to fuck. I’ll give her that.” His face changed and he got a faraway look in his eyes. “Just be aware of what you’re getting into. You better be prepared to say goodbye to Sadie, because Aubrey will make sure it happens.”
He left, and I was suddenly alone with my thoughts. It was getting harder and harder to stay faithful to Sadie. But even Deion, probably the biggest ladies’ man on the team, was warning me about Aubrey. It was hard to reconcile the Aubrey I knew with the woman several people had described. They had to be wrong.
I blew out a sigh, stood up, and headed out.
I either had another long night ahead of me, or I was going to give in.
And I still had four weeks to go until Sadie was back on campus.
Chapter Ten
Harrison
Things didn’t get any better as the summer went along. In fact, they got worse. Much worse. One Saturday night, I was just sitting around the frat house with nothing to do. Most of the guys had gone home for the summer. If they hadn’t gone home, then they usually got out of here for the weekend.
The drive home was too far for me to justify going home for just a day or so. We had practice every day of the week. I was bored until one of my frat brothers, Ben, came home from work and we started playing on the PlayStation in the common room.
That’s where we were when Aubrey walked in.
“Aubs. What are you doing here?” I swallowed hard. I didn’t like being around her at the frat house or in my room now, because I was afraid I’d give into temptation and cheat. And I didn’t want to.
“I called but you didn’t answer,” she said with a smile.
I felt for my phone and realized it wasn’t in my pants. “I must’ve left it upstairs.” I noticed her and Ben looking at each other a lot. “Do you know Ben?”
“Oh, I know Ben,” she laughed.
Ben looked uncomfortable.
I glanced between them. “How do y’all know each other?”
“Ben and I had a little fun together freshman year,” Aubrey said as she came over to the couch and plopped down besidehim. She was wearing a tank top that barely contained her tits and a ridiculously short skirt. As usual.
“Yeah. Thatfunwe had broke up my relationship with the only girl I’ve ever loved.” Ben looked back at the game we were playing and tried to ignore her.
My brow furrowed. Were all those rumors about Aubrey breaking couples up true?
“You’re not still mad about that, are you Benny?” She rubbed up against him, and he jerked away from her.
“I’ll be back. I gotta hit the head.” I really just wanted an excuse to get away from Aubrey. What was she doing here? I looked at myself in the mirror while I washed my hands. This was ridiculous. I wasn’t doing anything wrong. And I had self-control. I could handle this.
