I laughed as he pulled Maddie with him to the door of the rooftop. Yeah, he was feeling her.
“Trooper, can we go?” Sophie said, slipping her hand into mine.
And that was when it started.
“She got you like that, Trooper? I never knew you to take commands from a woman.”
I grilled Orin hard as fuck, but already knew it didn’t mean shit. Just seeing me with Sophie hurt. It was in her eyes.
“Mind your business, Orin,” I said before moving.
“Wait, what’s going on?” Sophie snatched away from me and looked between us. As far as she knew, I had only escorted Orin to her event. That was it. What I didn’t want was for Orin to tell her we were still fucking when Sophie and I got together.
“I’m not the only one who got a surprise tonight,” dude said with a smirk as he looked at Sophie. “Small world, I see.”
“You two know each other intimately?” Sophie questioned.
“Yes, but before you, so it’s not important.”
“Before?” Orin laughed. “Bitch, my juices were still on his lips for the first month you were together. In fact, I gave him head the night of the black-tie event. He didn’t tell you? I hope you didn’t fuck him that night, but if you did, you’re welcome. I handled that first nut for you. I know how Trooper likes to go all night after he gets that first one out of the way.”
Sophie looked at me but didn’t say a word. I could read her every thought in her eyes and her expression before she walked off.
“But don’t worry, boo. I’m not one of those exes who can’t let go. I just figured I’d let you know what you were dealing with.”Orin yelled behind her right before I grabbed her by the neck and pulled her close.
“You just fucked up.” The scowl I wore was deadly. I saw it in her eyes as I let her go.
Now I had to chase Sophie down. I drove, so she couldn’t leave without me, but things with us were broken and I had no idea how to fix it.
Chapter 22
Sophie
“I’m at…” My phone got snatched out of my hand before I could tell the service where to come pick me up. I was so pissed at this moment I felt the veins pulsing in my neck were going to explode.
“Ay, the fuck you think you’re doing?”
“I’m calling a car so I can go home. Now please give me my phone.”
She reached for it, but I slipped it in my pocket followed by both my hands as she looked at me like she wanted to be the reason for me taking my last breath. I had never seen her so upset, and it was really messing with me.
“Sophie, you can be upset, you can even hate me if you want, but?—”
“Oh I do, trust me. This right here is why my father was so dead set against me dealing with a man like you,” I snapped.
“Watch that. Real shit, Sophie. This ain’t got shit to do with why he don’t want you with me. Trust me. Not even fucking close, so don’t say things you can’t take back.”
“Wow, you really are something. You’re not going to spin this and make it my fault. When I said you didn’t have to share me, I meant it. Apparently, you didn’t.”
“I meant it when I said it and you haven’t since that day, so don’t tell me what the fuck I meant.”
“Fine, I won’t tell you anything because we don’t have anything further to discuss. May I please have my phone? I really just want to go home. This night has been exhausting and I just want to go to bed.”
“I’ll take you home, let’s go.” He started moving, but I didn’t.
“Sophie, I know you’re pissed right now. You deserve to be and I’m not gonna even try to deny you that right. When I said you were mine, I didn’t take that lightly. I meant it, so I’m not leaving here without you. Now let’s go.”
“I’m not going anywhere with you and I’m not yours. Apparently, she is though.”
