“Hey, you look beautiful,” Wayne smiles at me as he leads me out.
“Thank you, so where are we going first?” I try not to sound so nervous.
“My favorite place.”
“Mm,” I nod.
I look around slowly; this place is beautiful. The lake is silver as a diamond flame, and the atmosphere is still. The only sound I’m hearing is serenity. You can feel nature everywhere, breathe it, and the feeling is amazing. The scene is so glorious.
“This lake is my favorite place in Crystal Mill. It inspires me a lot.”
“I love it!” I exclaim happily, glad that he brought me here.
We walk to the clear shore, his big hands are holding mine.
“Are you cold?” he asks cautiously.
I look up to face him. “Mm, if I say yes, what will you do?”
“I’ll wrap you in my arms,” he smiles.
“Yes, I’m cold.” I nod, laughing.
“Okay, come here,” he pulls me to him.
He’s so big. He effortlessly wraps his arms around me.
We watch the lake and appreciate its beauty, quietly. But it’s a comfortable silence. It’s not because we don’t have anything to say. We just chose to savor the moment quietly, with me in his arms.
“Sarah?” Wayne breaks the silence.
“Hm?”
“How long do you plan on staying here?” he questions.
“Mm, I’m not sure yet. Two months, three, forever? I don’t know. It all depends,” I give a genuine response.
“It depends on what? Can I ask?”
I flash him a small look. “Me, it all depends on me.”
“Oh, I see.” he nods. “…but what about your man?”
When he asks that, my face breaks into confusion. I twist my head from left to right, confused.My man?
I turn around to face him, “What do you mean?”
“Well, I saw you together with him at the supermarket that day. I was going to ask for your name. But then, you were with him, and—”
I burst into laughter. I’m laughing so hard that tears are starting to form in the corners of my eyes.
“What is wrong? Why are you laughing?” his face breaks into a small frown.
“Oh my!” I throw my hand over my mouth and reel into another round of laughter.
“Is it that funny?” he furrows his eyebrows.
“Yes, it is. I can’t believe it. Did you not see the resemblance?”
