“Yeah, it was,” I nod to my lie.
“Yeah, so, hmm…” she bites her lower lips. “I’m not sure if people call around here. I mean, it’s the mountain, I don’t know about the network connections. I…” she stutters.
“I could stop by sometime next week to say hi. It’s a small place, and my cabin is not far from here. It’s just a few steps away,” I try to connect my words.
“Oh, that’s great. I’d love to visit you. I mean, I erm…”
“That’d be great. Yeah, sounds great,” a broad smile forms on my face.
“Yeah,” she nods, smiling.
“Thank you.”
“Come here,” she opens her small arms and wraps me into a hug.
I’m grinning from ear to ear. The excitement obvious on my face as I walk out of the hospital, knowing I’ll see Sarah again.

Sarah
It’s my fifth week in this hospital. And it has been great so far, it’s probably because Wayne visits me three times every week. He visits on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The people in the hospital have finally jumped into the conclusion that we are dating.
I wish so too, but he has only been visiting. Wayne has not confessed his feelings to me. I know he likes me, that much is clear. But he has not vocally expressed it. I don’t know why. He’s probably scared that I might reject him. He comes bearing gifts all the time. Most times, I’m always busy, so we don’t have the time to chat. He just says hello, drops the gift, and leaves, but just that is enough. He makes working here interesting for me. I like him.
“Hey, Doctor Newman.”
I look up when I hear Nurse Alice’s voice. She’s wearing a creepy smile on her face, and I know what she’s here to talk about.
“Tomorrow is your off day,” she reminds me.
“Yeah, I know.” I shrug.
“Mm, so did you tell him?”
“Who? Tell who?” I cast her a look that contains disgust.
“You know who, you know who. Haha,” Nurse Alice wiggles her eyebrows at me.
“Nurse Alice, I’ll tell Doctor Albert to assign you to more duties. You are usually too idle,” I tell her, standing up.
“Hey, I’m not idle. I just spare time to do the needful,” she scoffs.
“So, meddling into other people’s lives is the ‘needful’ for you?” my brows raise.
“Relax, it’s called caring. I care about you.”
“It’s called having no respect for other’s personal space,” I glare at her before walking away.
I told Wayne already, but it’s none of her business. Wayne has promised to pick me up tomorrow. He’s touring me around the mountain, I can’t wait. I’m so excited; seeing him makes me happy.
I washed my hair today, I’ve not done that in a long time. Well, because there’s usually no reason to. But today, I’m going out with Wayne.
After applying a small amount of lipstick, I look in the mirror twice. Wayne will be here anytime soon.
“Hey, Doctor Newman, your boyfriend is here,” one of the interns announces as she walks inside the room.
“Hey, he’s not my boyfriend,” I blush slightly before walking out to meet Wayne.
