“Shifter,” Silver pointedout.
“Fine.” Anthony had agreed that Silver got to welcome shifter members into the pack while Anthony got all theothers.
“I will be a good mate and advisor,” Quain said. His words held the quiet conviction of a swornvow.
Anthony shrugged. “I’m sure you will be, but it feels as if fate’s wheel is in play, so be careful, youtwo.”
“Or maybe the hand of a certain god?” Silver kissed Anthony’sforehead.
“Yes.” Anthony’s stomach sank. “I don’t know what kind of game Zeus is playing, but he’s preparingme.”
Silver snorted. “You’re more than a match foranyone.”
Before Anthony could counter Silver’s statement, Quain’s eyes turned white. “He’s coming and his wrath is strong,” hewhispered.
Shivers chased up and down Anthony’s arms, and his mouth dried with a new kind of fear. Any doubt he might have had of Quain being a seer vanished with thosewords.
“Quain.” Peter gently shook hismate.
Silver rushed over and smacked Peter’s hands away. “Wait for him to snap out of it. You don’t know what damage yanking him from a vision mightdo.”
“He’s right,” Quain said, blinking rapidly. “Don’t ever pull me from a vision unless I’m screaming. I’ve had a few horrific ones that I would’ve paid someone to get me outof.”
“Does that happen often?” Peterasked.
Quain shook his head as if trying to dispel whatever he had seen. “Not usually. My visions are rarely as horrifying as a few I’ve hadrecently.”
Anthony went to the small mini fridge Silver kept in his office to pull out a bottle of water. He took it back to Quain. After two episodes in as many minutes, the seer probably needed something cold to drink. Anthony debated on something alcoholic, but a lot of seers didn’t indulge because it made their giftsunmanageable.
“Thank you,” Quain said as he accepted the drink. “Zeus says hi by theway.”
“I bet that’s not all he said,” Silvergrowled.
Quain smiled before taking a sip. “You two don’t get alongthen?”
“Not especially,” Silverreplied.
“Most of my family are a bit difficult about my mating, but they’re warming up to him,” Anthony said, flashing Silver a fondsmile.
“Yeah, I’m not sure what my family will say. As far as I know, we’ve never had a wolf shifter join the family before.” Quain flashed Peter asmile.
“Surely in a family of seers, they’ll respect the mate bond?” Anthony asked. If Quain’s family were going to be difficult, he would set themstraight.
“We’ve never had one of our seers mate before. I was convinced I didn’t have a mate as none of my family ever found their fated half.” Quain’s statement had everyonestaring.
“Never?” Anthony frowned. Had it been because they were seers, or was a higher power at work? Did the fates turn away those born to bond with aseer?
“Not that I can remember or are listed in our family history books,” Quainreplied.
“Will they care about you using your sight for a wolf pack?” Silverasked.
“I doubt it.” Quain shrugged. “Especially if I tell them I’m getting paid. If they think you are taking me seriously, they are more likely to be all right withthings.”
“You said he’s coming and his wrath is strong. Who were you talking about?” Anthonyasked.
“He can’t tell you! Did you miss the part where he was tortured for his visions?” Peterasked.
Silver growled. “Don’t take that tone with mymate.”
