Anthony rubbed Silver’s arm. “No, he’s right. I amsorry.”

“It’s fine. I know you just asked out of curiosity, not because you’ll get upset if I don’t answer.” Quain flashed him a quicksilver smile. “Besides this vision was for you, so I can tell you aboutit.”

“Okay.” Anthony licked his chapped lips. “Who’s coming forme?”

“I couldn’t see. The vision was super fast. I had the sensation of someone powerful, like you, but not. He’s really angry. I’m sorry to say I didn’t get more than an impression. No details yet. Sometimes visions are like that. I’ll get a warning first, then the following visions will tell me more.” Quain’s lips curved in an apologeticsmile.

“Keep me updated please.” Anthony wished he could get a timeline when the asshole would come after him, but he couldn’t exactly demand details from a seer. They didn’t usually work thatway.

Quain nodded. “I will. Since I’ve only had the one, it is probably a few weeks away. There is still time to change the path of fate. I usually get visions in pieces and have to put them together in theend.”

“What do you mean?” Silverasked.

Quain leaned his elbows on his knees and tapped his fingers together in a steeple. “We lynx seers believe that time and events are fluid elements. Much like water, they can be diverted from their path if the right dams are built. Once I have a full vision, I usually have enough time to change things if needed. This must be done carefully, or I could influence things the wrongway.”

“You think you can stop the attack?” Anthony asked. He hadn’t had much experience with seers, and the ones on television didn’t count. If Quain could head off whomever was hunting Anthony, he would make a valuable ally. Not that it mattered since he had mated into the pack, but it made the pack stronger, which Silver always appreciated. It could also raise him up in Silver’s estimation. Since Peter looked up to Silver, it would cause dissension in the pack if Silver made his disbelief of psychicsknown.

“I don’t know if this particular event can be changed, but I have helped change things before,” Quain admitted. “If nothing else, I might be able to at least identify who is huntingyou.”

“Even if that is the whole extent of your ability, it would help us. Any insight at this time would be great.” Despite researching the gods and their descendants, Anthony still hadn’t pinpointed hisnemesis.

“I’ll do what I can,” Quain promised. “We must proceed with caution, though. Sometimes, once you decide to change it, fate can be a picky bitch and decide to sway things too far in the other direction.” Quain took another sip of water. His hand noticeably trembled when he picked up the bottle, but Peter wrapped his fingers around Quain’s and helpedhim.

Anthony smiled at their interaction. “I look forward to any assistance you cangive.”

His expectations weren’t high, but any help would be appreciated. They had no other information and no way of getting more unless their phantom adversary made himself known. With Quain’s assistance, forewarned wasforearmed.

“Is there anything else you can tell us about the wizards who held youcaptive?”

Quain spent the next ten minutes describing the men who had tortured him while Anthony wrote down every detail. When Quain’s eyes began to droop, Anthony called it quits for the day. “If you remember anything else, write it down, and we’ll address it tomorrow when you come to examine yourcontract.”

“I will.” Quain offered a shysmile.

Anthony resisted the urge to cuddle the young lynx shifter. Neither Peter nor Silver would appreciate it, not to mention Quain probably had issues with strangers touching him after months of negative attention. He hoped Quain called the therapist. The quicker he got help, the better off he wouldbe.

“Do you need a place to stay?” Silverasked.

“He can stay with me.” Peterbristled.

“He can. But does he want to? We don’t want him to feel pressured.” Anthony tried to lower the hostile atmosphere caused by Peter challenging his alpha. This wouldn’t end well if Silver decided to takeoffense.

Peter immediately backed down. “Sorry. My emotions are all over theplace.”

Anthony could have told him it was his unsettled bond, but Peter probably already knewthat.

Quain absently rubbed Peter’s leg. “How about I go home with you and we can talk about things. If I decide it would be better if I stayed alone, I can have Silver find me aplace.”

“Sounds good.” Anthony quickly agreed before the more alpha pair tried toargue.

Quain flashed him a gratefulsmile.

Silver nodded but didn’tspeak.

“Good. Glad we got that settled. I’ll bring Quain back tomorrow to see the contract.” Peter stood up and pulled Quain along with him, then gave Silver a short bow. “With Alpha’s permission, ofcourse.”

“We’ll see you tomorrow,” Silversaid.

Quain rubbed his hands on his jeans and gave quick goodbyes before letting Peter drag him out of the office. The door closed quietly behind the couple unlike the loud slamming of Gallein’sexit.
