“What did he say?” Damien’s voice whispered, and Trixie frowned.
“He implied you were rubbing off on me. I informed him that just because you had more than one mate didn’t mean that you were a slut, it meant that you were more loved and protected,” she explained in a soft voice before her gaze hardened. “Then I informed him I wasn’t a slut. I just didn’t want to waste my time on him anymore. I told him if he ever tried to talk to me or you again, I would put a hex on him.”
Damien’s chuckle swooped around us. “I’m glad you’re friends with the witch.”
I smiled as Trixie’s frown curled into a smile. “I’m glad I’m friends with Trixie too.”
“Best friends,” Trixie corrected.
“Speaking of Nate… When Alister was found, and they tortured Fallon for answers, they found out that Nate was working with her and has been since term one. Apparently, they had been sleeping together.”
Trixie reeled back as anger burned in her gaze. “Are you fucking kidding me?”
“I wish I was, Trixie.”
“That asshole,” she growled, clutching the arms of the leather seat. “Such a fucking hypocrite. Lying, cheating bastard.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. I’m not hurt. I’m just pissed. Alsogross. He was sleeping with us both at the same time.” She shivered.
“I’m sorry.”
“Stop saying sorry, babe. I’m glad you told me. Let’s not waste anymore time on him.”
“Who’s the guy you’ve been interested in?”
All the tension in her shoulders dissolved as her lips curved into a smirk. “That would be an insane fucking scientist.”
I gasped. “Norman?”
She nodded with a grin. “I’m into him. He’s fucking insane, but he’s hot. And he is really interesting. I love how passionate he is about his work.”
I smiled. “Well if it helps, he talks about you a lot. I can’t say it’s always good, though.”
“Oh, trust me. I just irritate him right now, but I’ll get under his skin enough to where he’ll want to fuck me out of his system.”
I choked both on the heady aromatic scent of essential oils in the air and Trixie’s lack of filter. “Trixie!”
Damien hummed through the shadows. “That would definitely work on him.”
“See, he gets it.” She threw her arms up just as Callie came back with her hair flowing in glossy waves down her back.
“I didn’t want to do too much different, apparently,” she murmured, gliding her fingers through her hair.
“It looks beautiful,” I told her.
The lady smiled at us as she came up behind Callie. “Who’s next?”
Trixie fluffed her thick, shoulder-length brown hair. “I do my own, so I’m good.”
They glanced at me, and I smiled sheepishly as I played with the ends of my hair. “I’m not sure. I don’t really know what I would do different with it.”
Trixie got out of her chair and grabbed my shoulders. “Babe, you have to get bangs. They would look so cute on you!”
Damien’s shadow tendril swept across my forehead. “You’d look adorable in anything.”
Callie nodded. “You should definitely get bangs.”
