“Immortal, not indestructible. Only one blade can kill a demon. A blade made of Garnet embedded with Torbernite. All archangel swords are made of it.”
“Why’d he do it?” Thaddeus asked.
He wanted to make me pay.
Blaise shot up from his spot on the bed and dropped to his knees in front of me. “Pay for what, Poppy?”
“Mother!”
I snapped my head toward the portal in time to see Titan scampered through, dropping to the ground on his hands and knees. His hair was a mess, his black horns blending into it. Glossy black tears filled his red eyes as he stared up at me.
His dark gray skin seemed almost ashen, a sign he hadn’t been sleeping well. Titan and I had always been close, ever since I’d created him. We had a close bond, and he was my best friend in Hell.
Aziel gave a warning growl his way, and I pushed up to sit. I had to wiggle a bit because Aziel was hesitant to loosen his hold.
He’d never liked Titan. Something about him having feelings for me. Which was complete bullshit. Titan wasn’t into me like that and he never had been, but Aziel had always been extra protective around him.
“Titan, it’s so fucking weird to see you again now that I have my memories back.” I shook my head with a laugh. “I’d get up to hug you, but Aziel won’t let go.”
“There’s no need for him to touch you,” Aziel grumbled.
The vampires in the room were silent as Titan stood up and grinned. Ignoring Aziel. “I knew it was you when you walked into purgatory.”
“I know.”
Aziel gave another growl, and I sighed.
“Shut up, guard demon.” Titan growled back.
“Says a fucking lackey of the Order of the Void.” Aziel turned his nose up.
“Speaking of, how the fuck were you working alongside Gabriel after what he did?” I narrowed my eyes.
“It wasn’t my choice. I was on the Order of the Void way before they demoted Gabriel.” He frowned. “Come on, you know that.”
“Mate, I’m spent. What the bleeding hell is going on?” Blaise moved from in front of me and fell back onto the bed with a bounce.
“Aziel and Titan aren’t very...close.” I huffed.
“Understatement,” Aziel and Titan mumbled.
“I think Blaise is a bit gobsmacked by the culture shock,” Kai said.
He had a good point. For the past three-hundred years they were living as vampires, and before that, they were living as humans. They knew about Hell, but they never experienced it. Now, they were romantically and sexually involved with me—and they knew me as the mother of demons, for Hell’s sake.
“Too late to dwell.” Thaddeus rubbed his chin. “What’s done is done.”
A prickly silence settled over the room, and the seed of guilt planted in my gut. Without realizing it, I’d fucked up their entire life. It didn’t matter that they’d done the same by turning me into a vampire.
We’d barely established our fucking relationship, and I’d dragged them to Hell with me.
Oh, fuck. I’m a bitch. No wonder Thaddeus freaked.
“Stop that, Poppy.” Blaise shook his head. “You’re stuck with us now. It happened quickly, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
I smiled at him. Blaise always fucking invaded my mind, but it was kind of nice not having any secrets from him. I’d wished it was vice versa, though.
“So, why’re you here, Titan?” Aziel tightened his jaw. “I doubt it’s just to see Lilith.”
