Titan’s face grew serious as he nodded. “Mother, King Zelek requires your presence. The Order of the Void and the seers are in the throne room to tell you the prophecy.”

Fucking finally.

THREE

Walking through the portal and into the throne room, my voice echoed off the walls. “All I hear about is this damn prophecy and how fucking important it is. Well, if it’s that important, why am I just now being told about it?”

I plopped down on the throne to the left of Dad, who heaved a familiar sigh. The guys followed behind and stood beside the throne, fidgeting as Titan went to stand next to the Order of the Void.

Carmilla stood there looking like a prim and proper vampire with her glossy waves of black hair and haunting green eyes. I remembered her vaguely from before my murder, but the most I’d spoken to her was during this life.

Selene, my absolute sweetheart of a friend in my past life, stood next to her with a soft smile on her lips and her golden eyes trained on me. Her mousy brown hair was tucked neatly into a bun.

Kalyke, the playboy fae with blue hair, had thought he was hot shit because he was fae royalty or whatever. It seemed like that hadn’t changed.

I swept my gaze past him to meet Gabriel’s cold, glowing white eyes.

Gabriel was a fucking sadist. The pretty feathered wings I’d yet to see and long silver hair gave off an angelic front, but his core was more fucked up than I was. His cold eyes trailed over my body before settling on my face, and his thin lips pulled into a smirk. “Pleasure to have you home, Lilith.”

His words felt like ants crawling on my skin, and I shivered. “If it’s that much of a fucking pleasure, you shouldn’t have pierced me with your sword.”

That sinister smirk still pulled at his lips. “Considering you prefer demon over angel, I was under the impression you liked it rough, darling.”

Disgust wove its way into my gut. The fucker was always led by jealousy, and I knew it. I could get under his skin like no other, but look where that got me. Even so, I couldn’t bite my tongue.

“You tortured me for pain and death. Aziel tortures me in pleasure.” I winked at him.

His smirk fell, and his fists clenched at his sides. “Discreet in your indulgence of sin as always.”

“I manipulate sin, Gabriel.” I smiled sweetly, gathering the anger boiling inside me and pushing it toward him. “You should know that.”

He stumbled a bit as the anger hit him, and his eyes glowed brighter. “Real mature, demon,” he spat the old insult at me as if I cared.

“I’m not just a demon anymore, babe.”

He squirmed at the pet name, and I cackled. Gabriel hated me with every fiber of his fucking magic, and I loved to ruffle his feathers. It’d been that way for over nine millennia.

We didn’t always hate each other. There was a time when we were friends, but he caught feelings, and I didn’t. The betrothal sure as hell didn’t help that either. But I never thought he’d kill me...I trusted him. The moments before he landed the final blow were brutal.

“That’s right.Vampire.” He rolled his eyes. “Real special. You’re lying with vampires too now. How’s your precious demon feel about that?”

I shrugged, glancing at Aziel, who snarled in response.

“As long as I’m by her side, I’m happy.”

Gabriel scoffed. “Even when you’re not enough for her?”

“Just because you weren’t enough for me, doesn’t mean he isn’t.” Hellfire ignited on my fingertips. I brought my fingers to my lips and licked the flames out. The heat singed my taste buds before healing. I had to calm down. Everyone in Hell knew me for my explosive anger and lack of control, but I didn’t wantthemto see me that way. “Let’s get to it with the prophecy, yeah?”

“Finally, you two are finished bickering.” An older woman with brilliant white hair and black eyes stepped forward. She was the only one wearing a floor-length dress, and she reminded me of royalty.

“It’s been a while, Regalia.” I tilted my head slightly down in acknowledgement.

“It’s good to see our visions have been right. You look good as a hybrid, Lilith.” Her lips curled into a smirk.

I hadn’t noticed the group of three older women standing next to the Order, but I recognized them immediately. These particular seers were triplets. They each had a glowing red symbol on their forehead that marked them as seers. Kids born in multiple shared gifts of magic, and these women were legendary in all the realms for their gifts.

They had sought me out in the past and told me to follow my heart, and I listened. I couldn’t imagine what would’ve happened had I gone through with the betrothal, so I trusted whatever they had to say was important. Besides, I’d never heard of them presenting a prophecy before.
